My dad was John Ashley Selph born June 28, 1905. He talked about his dad which they called Tac and he had brothers named Tommy, Marvin, Austin and Barry, a sister, Lulla, a bunch is not known about them. Let me know what info you have, they were all from Telfair County, GA.
His first wife died after a mess up on an abortion and he married my mom in 1945.

I have a James Martin Harkins in my line who married Agnes Self. James' father, William Stewart Harkins, was the brother of my gggg-grandfather Andrew Walter Harkins. James was born about 1835 and died on July 1, 1862 at the battle of Malvern Hill. He was in the 11th Alabama regiment even though the 1860 census has him living in Tippah County Mississippi. Agnes Self was born about 1841 and died between 1900-1910. I'm not sure right off, but I can look tonight and see what infomation I have at home on the dates. They had one son that I know of named James Worth Harkins, born Nov. 13, 1860 and died Feb 3, 1930. If you would like more info on this side, e-mail me at harkinsr@bellsouth.net

Yvetta Gray Selph, 70, Bumpus Mills, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Manor House of Dover.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Anglin Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Lovitt officiating.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.
Anglin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Stewart Co., Tenn., daughter of William and Virginia Wallace Lewis.
Ms. Selph was a homemaker and a member of Brandon Chapel Church.
Survivors include her children, Timothy Selph, Dover, Thomas Selph, Bumpus Mills, and Rhonda Crookshanks, Clintonville, W.Va.; brother, Billy Joe Lewis, Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Carlene Watkins, Bumpus Mills, and Loretta Kennedy, Clarksville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Chapel Church, Bumpus Mills, Tenn.

I think your g-ma Rosa may be the sister of my husband's grandfather Bee Bartow Selph.
(I'm registered in my husband's name, in case you were wondering why someone named Donald is posting about "her" husband!!)
The 1900 census (Berrien Co. GA) has a William and Mary J Selph listed w/ children Rosa, Jonett, "Be"(misspelling of Bee?), and Willie.
I know my Selph relatives lived in Wilcox Co. at some point. (Bee Bartow was born there, I think) His 1st wife was Maud & they had children named Ruby and Myrtle. They lived in Abbeville in 1920.
After Maud died(?) he married a much younger woman--Onzell White from Wilcox Co. They had Gilbert and Florence Geneva (my mom in law). Bee Bartow Selph died when my Ma-in-law was about 14 or so, probably around early 1950's?
Mom-in-law said she'd find the family bible to give me more names, but for now that's all I know about the Selphs of Wilcox Co.

Looking for information on Frank D. Selph (1862 - 1927) and descendants, if any. Frank was probably born in MI, but practiced law in Elkland, Tioga Co., PA. He married Mamie/Mame Campbell (1869 - 1954). His parents were George W. an Mary H. Selph, both born in NY. Frank's younger brother, Fred, was born in MI in 1863 or 1864, but lived in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA, at least for a while.

Hi, I too am looking for information on this family. My grandfather was Nolan Thomas Selph. I believe that was your Leon's brother. My mother gave me the names of the brother's and sister's. I have just started my search. My daughter lives in Wheeler County. I am going this weekend to her house. My mother tells me that Si is buried on the same road that my daughter lives on. I am going to check it out.

He was married to Mary Ophelia Selph. My mother says that his brothers and sisters were as follows, Edna, Fanny, Dovie, Ulma, Charley, Leon and Will. I'm not sure of the spelling.
