Need info on Arthur Garner Sexton, b. 1817 in Harpers Ferry, WV. Wife Sophia McGregor(?), several children including daughters Angeline and Deborah. Later lived in Indiana

I am trying to trace my husband's ancestors,
the Sexton family who are from W.Va. His
grandfather, John Herman Sexton was from
there, but we know little else, except he was
born Dec 25 1900 in Fayetteville. He was
apparently adopted into a Sexton family in SC.
We don't know if the adoption was legal. He
married a Sarah Paxton from Ohio and both
died in Ladson, SC.

Does any of this sound familiar?

My boyfriend, Craig Sexton, is a WV Sexton. His father was named William Sexton and was born in Huntington.
Craig has several sisters and brothers.
He is looking for a link also. Email me and I will have him send you the names of his grandmother and grandfather and other info.

My Uncle Joe had a son named William. Actually,
several of my uncle's had sons named William.
My Father's name was John Sexton. He had many
brothers including: Joe, Homer, Orville, Otis,
Eddie, Dave and sisters including Stella, Nellie,
and Maggie. Of course, this isn't the entire list
because I can't remember them all. My Dad's family
lived and grew up in Kentucky and West Virginia.
Now they are sprawled out over Kentucky, W.V.
and Ohio, specifically Ironton Canton. My
father moved his family to Florida when I was
2 yrs. old. Most everyone has died by now.
Please ask your boyfriend to ask his father if any of these names
are familiar. I may have found some of my cousins!

My grandfather was a Sexton in Htgn WV. His name was Wilbert A. Sexton; siblings were Earl, Harry, Mabel, Pauline, Louise, Geneva. Their parents were Charles Finley Sexton and ?. Charles'(b.ca 1874) siblings were: John A., William H., Frank H., Georgie A., Nettie E. and Albert M. Charles Finley Sexton's parents were Horatio Hamilton Sexton and Mary E....(Nelson?). He and his brother Henry B.were in the 8th VA Cavalry, Co. E. in Civil War. Their parents were Abraham Sexton and Louisa Ann ?. Another brother was James. Do any of these names ring a bell? I'm hitting brick walls everywhere. Any help much apreciated!
