Dr. James H. Shoot - Joplin, MO

Have located the family of Dr. James Shoot living in Joplin, Missouri, in the late 1880s. I know he is related to me by way of his brother, Dr. Charles Shoot (my direct ancestor).

I am hoping to find descendants of James. He is buried in or near Joplin. He died January 12, 1888. His exact burial site is still unknown to me but I am still looking.

Hi, since this is not a common name I thought it may also have been spelled Shoots.
I have a Capitola "Cappie" Shoot b abt 1882 in Illinois. She married Samuel Kerans b abt 1879 in Illinois.
They had the following children;

Irene Kerans age 9

Morris Kerans age 7

Wendel Kerans age 5

Joe Kerans age 2 all b Illinois

Capitola's parents were Maveman T. Shoot b abt 1851 in Illinois and Sassacus E. b abt 1853 in Illinois. Their children were;

From The Shoots Family in America. Gill.1966. pg.1 "The earliest records available are of a Benjamin Shoots who came to this county from Germany at the age of nine years, probably in the 1750's.He married Rosanna Beard or Baird,who was of Scot-Irish parentage, and who came to America when seventeen years of age. ...their son Joseph Shoots was born in PA, 6JAN1771. Joseph went to VA as a young man, where he met and married Sally Thompson, born in VA, December 1, 1775." Looking for information to update Mrs. Gill's 1966 genealogy. Did Joseph have any siblings?

I'm wondering if anyone has documented that this person's father was "James". I've seen it on some pedigrees, but no one has been able to provide documentation. It seems to be a "family story" given creedence by some DAR applications. And does anyone have proof that these folks were of English instead of German (Shutz) origin?

I haven't researched this line in awhile, and was just wondering. It's my Mom's maiden name.

Am seeking the burial site of Dr. James H. Shoot. Last known in Joplin, Jasper County, MO c. 1883 per a printed county history. Parents were Frederick and Rebecca (Taylor) Shoot. James was born 1822 in KY. Was a physician in the Civil War. Married Angeline Potter in Lexington, KY in 1846.

I am looking for some information about Lena Shoots, who is my great grandmother. I have only her date of death, 1906. I know that she was married to Ernest John Emmons (born 1877 and died 1973) and one of their children, Florence was born in Sheridan, MI in 1902. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
