George W. Stafford, 72, of Herminie, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Excela Hospice at Jeannette. He was born July 22, 1936, in Albany, N.Y., to the late John T. and Mary Stafford. He was a retired truck driver for Land Star Ranger, Jacksonville, Fla., an employee of Giant Eagle Deli, North Huntingdon, and a Marine veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Darlene F. Wright Stafford; children, George Earl Stafford, Brenda Lee Stafford and Gene Thomas Stafford, all of Herminie; grandchildren, George E. Jr., Nicholas R., Katelyn, Savannah and Dalton Stafford; best friend, Charles Maxwell; and his loved dogs, Mimi and Misty. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a blessing service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. Private interment will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors, caregivers and family and friends that helped through a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the family or a charity of choice.
