Searching for info on John Stimpson b.1605 married Susanna Phillips. Son James Stimson b. Reading, Mass.

I have info on a John Stimson who married a Susana Phillips.
This family came to Watertown Mass aboard the Massasschuettes Bay Colony in 1630. John returned to England and later came back to Watertown as merchant/minister in 1635 aboard the Truelove. He was then married to Susanna. John died in 1645 Susanna remarried to George Parkhurst of Watertown.
Their son James married Bethiah Mansfield

I have significant information from John Stimson (b. 1605 in Newcastle, Eng. most likely it was originally spelled Stimpson and changed to Stimson in the US) and his son James Stimson I (b. abt. 1635 in Watertown MA and later moved to Reading, MA). He actually was married 3 times - Naomi Leffingwell, Mary Leffingwell and Patience Cook. My ancestory comes from the son of James & Naomi, thru their son, James Stimson II (b. 1669 in Reading, MA).

I have recently stumbled across some information that has allowed me to trace my family back to Robert Livers and Elizabeth Hardy. I was informed that Elizabeth is the daughter of William Hardy and Ann Stimson and that Ann is the daughter of Solomon Stimson and Elizabeth Finch Elder. I was wondering if you had any information on these Stimson people. If they're in the same line as what you've been researching, I am definitely interested in your research on the "Stimson" heritage. Thank you! I do have one more question. I have come across several other web postings that have listed Solomon's mother as Mary Leffingwell and not Naomi. Are they the same person or perhaps relations?

Mary Leffingwell is the younger sister of Naomi Leffingwell. She was also married to James Stimson/Stimpson.

I sort of guessed she was a sister or cousin. You see that a lot back then :) I guess what I'm more interested in knowing is why some have Naomi as the mother and others have Mary? I have no idea. I just started looking into this family line and trolled through the Internet to see if I could get anything to pop up. It's a good way to get some background information to get started but occasionally the information conflicts with each other.

My info is not proven, but with all the info on the net it seemed the most accurate to me. I guess when the mother died and there were several small children they usually married a younger sister, if available, for a baby-sitter.
