hi,I am looking for any information on james johnstone,I have looked at the stoney tree that someone has already compiled, but cannot find any info about the stoneys and how they ended up at cloughjordon, co tippererary on ireland, they are origonally fron north yorkshire(back in the 1500/1600s.James johnstone stoney is my parteners great grandfather ,he married gertrude carter.We think that he was born around 1800.They were a wealthy protestant family,and owned emmell castle in cloughjordon,(we think!)he was a reverand preaching in a catholic ireland, and must have had a small congregation in those days.we think he was a friend of john long the methodist preacher, also from cloughjordon.We also ahve a theory that the famliy fled UK to get away from the plague in the 1600s.Thats just abouit the lot,anybody know us out there? liz crangle, devon england.
