Various resources I have looked at indicate that Elias S. Utterback (abt. 1781-1857) married Peggy Strother (b. abt. 1777?). Maybe someone can address these questions:

Who were Peggy Strother's parents?

Was James Mason Strother actually their son?

My ultimate intent is to untangle the ancestry of Sarah Agnes Utterback, who married Edward Malcolm Kendall in Fauquier county in 1909. They had a daughter, Mayme Christine, who was my grandson's great-grandmother. Is that complicated enough?

Thank you very much. Barbara Ball

Strother woman marries Blackwell in VA, c 1790

I am searching for the ancestors of one Strother Blackwell, b. in the 1790s in VA. I believe Strother is a family name and that he was born to a Strother woman who married a Blackwell, maybe in Culpepper or Fauquier Co, VA, around 1790. This Strother Blackwell later migrated to Henderson Co., TN. Do any Strother family researchers know of any Strother women who might fit into this pattern?

Joey was born Jan. 28, 1985, at Madigan Army hospital to Cynthia Olson and Vincent Strother. Joey enjoyed camping and fishing with Grandma Bev and Grandpa Bart. He also enjoyed hiking and boating with his family and hanging out with his friends at the apartment where he lived.

He enjoyed being Uncle Joey to his niece Shawnna who is 1 year old. Joey was very proud of all his accomplishments he achieved at the Ephrata High School FBLA and his wrestling career at Ephrata High School and Brazoswood High School in Texas. Joey was much too young to leave us and will be missed very much.
Historically marked Strother grave

Thought this might be of interest to Strother descendants.

In Collin County Texas near the town of Anna, (north of Dallas) stands a small cemetery called Highland Cemetery. It is well maintained and still in use. The first marked grave in the cemetery is that of:
Robert French Strother, b Nov 11, 1785 Franklin County, North Carolina; d Jun 21, 1861 Collin County, Texas.

R.F.'s burial site has been noted on a large bronze historical marker issued by the Texas State Historical Commission in front of the cemetery. Some family trees I have seen show this descendent to have died in Tennessee, however this is not the case. He is, with his son (Western Green Strother) the first Strother's to have settled in Texas (then known as the Republic of Texas) in 1854. W.G. purchased 1000 acres in Collin County, part of the Peter's Colony established by Rep of Tx in 1841.

R.F.'s ancestry is:
< Judd Strother, b Feb 23, 1771, d Dec 15, 1857;
< Christopher Judd Strother, b 1715, d 1741;
< Jeremiah Strother, b 1655, d 1741;
< William Strother (the Immigrant).

Robert French Strother's descendants (that are also buried at this cemetery) are:
> Weston (or Western) Green Strother, b Mar 28, 1816 Murfreesboro, TN, d Dec 24 1900 Anna, TX;
> James Lafayette Strother, b Aug 17, 1879 Collin County, TX, d Oct 25, 1952 Anna, TX;
> Guy Orlando Strother (my father), b Oct 4, 1916 Anna, TX, d Sept 23, 1999 Fort Worth, TX, buried at Anna.

Note: W.G., my father's grandfather was born 100 years before him, wow! And my grandfather J.L. was born 81 years before me! S-t-r-e-t-c-h those generations!! Not uncommon, look at Jeremiah and Judd, 116 years difference between grandfather and grandson!! Crazy!

There are other Strother descendants buried here as well, most probably descendants of R.F. and W.G.

I have the names of R.F.'s descendants as well as W.G.'s, but it would go on forever, these are large farm families! If interested, please post back.

I'm descended from William the Immigrant through Francis Strother (b. abt 1786) and his wife Cecelia Dobbins. I've had it in my records that they married in Hanover, VA. No exact date. West Virginia has just put a lot of their early records on-line for use for free. On a hunch I typed in Francis Strother and it gives his marriage date as 5 Jan 1802 in Pendeleton, West Virginia. He was 16 years old, but the surprising thing was that Cecelia was only 12! The web site is: www.wvculture.org/vrr/ Most of their children were born in Virginia, I wonder if some of them were actually born in West Virginia? Thought people might like to know.

I don't know much about Jane Stevens except that she was living with Mary in 1920 according to the 1920 Census. I believe her maiden was Davis and her father was Frank Davis. She was 79 years old so should put her birth year at 1841. Mary was listed as head of household and she was 63. Both were widowed. Mary's husband was Albert Edmund Strother. Don't know who Jane's husband was or her maiden name. Also living with Mary was her son Steve (36) and Albert Amos Strother (21) who was my grandfather. Mary also had 6 boarders at the time. I believe Albert Amos also had another brother named Lem.
I am looking for any information about Solomon Strother who was living in Wythe County Virginia in 1793. He is listed in the 1793 Personal Property Tax list as living in the area "North of Walker's Mountain." He may have had a daughter who married a man with the surname Chatwell sometime between 1801 and 1807. Solomon Strother is not listed in the 1810 Wythe County Census, so he may have moved away from that area or passed away by that time. I am particularly interested in whether he is a decendant of "William the Immigrant" Strother. Thank you.

I am looking for information about Margaret Strother (born about 1780 in Virginia) who was married to Isaiah Chatwell. They married sometime before 1807, lived most of their adult lives in Wythe County, Virginia and had 9 children. I am interested in any information on this couple, but am especially interested in finding out the name of Margaret Strother's parents. I have seen several family histories posted on the internet which list her parents as Elizabeth Morton and James Strother (son of Anthony Strother and his second wife, son of William Strother) but they list no sources and I have been unable to verify that information in any records that I have come across. So I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

My paternal Grandmother's father was Daniel Strotter/Strother. He married Blanche Poindexter they had my Grandmother Elsie in 1914 and a sister Edith soon after. My Grandmother is now deceased and has provided our family with no information about out heritage. I know that relatives lived in Culpeper County, Va in town I think is called Brandy. I visited Nana and Aunt Edith in Culpeper when I was very young, they lived alongside a dirt road in the woods, to my recollection. I have been unable to find any information on the surname Strotter, but I have found individuals with the Surname Strother in the Culpeper area which leads me to believe that someone in my Grandmother's line spelled the name incorrectly. Please furnish me with info reagarding Blanche Poindexter, Daniel Strotter/Strother, Elsie or Edith Strotter/Strother or any one with these two surnames in the Culpeper, Co. area. thanx
