My wife, Sandra, is a 3g-granddaughter of Nancy White Sullivan. Nancy's husband was Wiley Sullivan. Supposedly he was born circa 1770 in Virginia (or North Carolina). He disappeared after the 1830 Census of Smith County, TN. Nancy is listed in the 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1870 Overton County census with her children. She died in 1871 in Overton County. Does any one have any formation on him that can be proved.

Pleasant Sullivan

Information I have seen on Pleasant Sullivan's children just doesn't match the census records. The 1790 Greenville County, SC census has Pleasant's household with two free white males upward of 16 years (Pleasant and ?); two free white males under 16 years of age (Garrett and ?); one free white female; and one slave. I think it is likely that the other under 16 was my ggg Grandfather John Sullivan but don't know if I'll ever be able to know for sure. I know that John was born between 1780 and 1790 and lived among all the other Sullivans in Southern Greenville County. Pleasant Sullivan went to Anderson County in the early 1800s and later to Elbert County, GA where he died about 1840.
Any additional reliable information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Family tradition is that two OSBORN brothers came to Baltimore County, MD from VA, one with an Indian wife from the Pamunkey Tribe of VA. This was Pocahontas' tribe. JUDAH is supposed to be that Native American. Daniel Sullivan OSBORNE married an Unknown JUDAH. Daniel Sullivan OSBORN was the son of Danie OSBORN and Mary SULLIVAN (born 1712) married John OSBORN on 24 Dec 1732 in Baltimore Co., Maryland. Daniel Sullivan OSBORN died in Baltimore CO., Md in 1790. The couple had 8 children. We are trying to trace our ancestor Sarah OSBORN/OSBORNE to her exact family and Native American ancestry. Sarah was probably born betwen 1748 and 1753 in Balto/Carroll Co., MD. her only child Shadrack/Shadrich BUSH Jr. was born on 23 March 1768. Sarah BUSH wrote her Last Will and Testimont on 16 Oct. 1816 and it was probated on 7 June 1818.
I was able to find two marriages in MD but none in VA.
Jacob JUDAH married Mary OVERY on Apr. 22, 1779 in Baltimore Co., MD. Hannah JUDAH married William TAYLOR on Jan. 09, 1783 in Baltimore Co., MD. Thanks for any help or ideas anyone might have!
Annie Su;livan's parents were, I believe, anne deasy and john sullivan. Can anyone help me fill in the gaps? I have hit the wall.

Sullivan- Omaha, maybe Seattle and California?

I'm working on the family of Frank and Amelia Slavin Sullivan. Amelia was born in IL in 1857, and Frank in either NY or Canada in 1850. They lived in Omaha, NE for many years, with children Mary (c. 1876), Katie (c. 1879), Frank (Dec. 1881), Mabel (May 1884), Raymond (Dec 1889), Edna (c. 1890) and Norbert (July 1894).

The family moved from Omaha in the early 1900's, probably to Seattle. Edna may have married a YUHRE in California; Norbert was in California in 1920, with wife Maude and daughter Verna; in 1930, he was in Seattle with new wife Leota.

Thanks!
Jeremiah Sullivan and Bridget Moran, Western Massachusetts and Canada

My gggrandparents, Jeremiah and Bridget Sullivan married and lived in Montague, Massachusetts in 1874. They reappear in West Springfield, Massachusetts in the 1900 census. One daughter, Mary C, was born in Massachusetts in 1879. My ggrandfather, John Engelbert Sullivan was born in 1876.

My puzzle is this - another daughter, Annie M Sullivan, is shown as having been born in Canada in 1880. Annie and Jeremiah are both listed as having immigrated in 1895. That's odd seeing as though Jeremiah and Bridget (Moran) were married in Montague in 1874.

Can any offer an help in finding Jeremiah and Annie in Canada? Or any other information?

Thank you,

Tom Emery

Help! I am looking for Lemuel Luther Sullivan. Told by grandaunt that he was an Irishman, but I am not having any luck locating information about him. I do however have his civil war records, but there is not alot of information. The records state he was born in Duplin County, NC. But it conflicts with the story I was told. Wondering if he lied so he could fight in the war. Any information would be appericated.

I am still seeking information on John and Sarah (Smith) Sullivan. They lived at Ware Place, SC from at least 1820 thru 1839. John was one of the founders of Washington Baptist Church according to Church history. He was not mentioned in the Church minutes after 1839. Their known children were Anna, John, Charles B. (married Nancy Parrot), and William R. (married Mary ? possibly McDougal).
Sarah was living in the home of Charles B. in 1850 and with Mary French in 1860. John was shown on the 1830 census as being between 40 and 50 years old and Sarah between 30 and 40 years old. Three Sullivans were listed in sequence on the 1830 census...John, John Doct (Dr. John Creasy Sullivan), and Thomas J.
Any information on who his parents were will be greatly appreciated.
Daniel Sullivan from PEI, Nova Scotia

Daniel Sullivan (b. circa 1865 in PEI, Nova Scotia) is my great grandfather (son John Raymond (b. 1899) is my grandfather). I know that he married a Mary E. David, but have no further information on his or her parents. From a census report, I found that his parents were both born in Canada, but have been unable to find any other information. They moved to Maine, then on to Massachusetts, and finally, Gorham, NH. He died circa 1917. Any information would be greatly appreciated, as I've reached a major roadblock.

Re: Bantry Sullivans and Reendisert

I've traced our ancestor Eugene Sullivan to Kilmocomoque Parish (Bantry). Eugene was married there between 1857-1862. He named is first 2 sons Daniel(1863) and John (1865)and his third son after himself. He probably had a brother James (godparent to Eugene). He said he was from the townland of REenadisert on his children's birth records.

There were four Sullivan households in Reenadisert in 1848-52. Cornelius, John,Florence and Mortimer. I have been unable to link these names up. My Eugene, born about1833-1843 was possibly related to one of these. Does anyone have them in their tree?
Michael Connor was a neighbor in Reenadisert and Eugene's wife was Nora (Hanora) Connor.

Thanks Marge

Burgess Sullivan, Ky. or Va. mid 1700's

I have James Sullivan, b. abt 1788, and Rachel Pickett, b. abt 1790, getting married in Fayette Co., Ky. on 1-27-1808. The marriage records in Fayette Co. shows 'Curgis?' as the father of the groom. I am translating this as Burgess, but the only Burgess I can find was born abt 1720 in Va. They may be related, but I don't think they are one & the same. My Burgess also shows up as the step-father for Nancy Shrock & Elizabeth Shrock when they get married. I think that he may be the son or nephew of the Va. Burgess, but I can't find any proof. Can anyone give me a hand?
I am trying to identify ancestors of Edith Blanche Sullivan (b 1856 Blanchetown, South Australia; d 1933 Melbourne) and her brother Peter (b 1853 Willunga, d 1925). Father was Richard William Sullivan (b Ireland); mother was Blanche ? believed to have been born in Ireland. I haven't been able to identify when either of the parents arrived in South Australia. Does anyone have them in their Sullivan tree?

Edith Blanche married Adam William Borthwick.
I don't know who Peter married, but I understand he had 3 sons Ralph, Alf and Lawrence and 1 daughter Sylvia.

thanks, Janet

William Sullivan

THE ATLANTA CONSTITUTION
Atlanta, Georgia, Thursday Morning May 25, 1893

THIS WAS UP NORTH

A Mob in Michigan Lynch a Man for Rape

THEN THRUST KNIVES IN HIS BODY

Afterward They Drag the Corpse Through the Streets

"SUICIDE" IS THE CORONER'S VERDICT

Corunna, Mich, May 24 -- William Sullivan the farm hand who so brutally
murdered his employer, Layton Leech, and murderously assaulted the
latter's wife, paid the penalty of his crime last night. He was taken
from the jail and lynched at 9:40 o'clock p.m.

The mob consisted of over 800 men, who shouted themselves hoarse as the
body dangled at the end of a rope. Just before he was taken from the
cell, Sullivan attempted to commit suicide with a knife which he had in
some manner concealed about his person.

By means of sledges the jail was soon broken open by the mob. A noose was
placed around his neck and the crowd dragged him through the jail
corridors to the big jail yard and to a low, marshy square of ground about
200 feet to the rear of the jail building under an oak. Men fought,
struggled and cursed for the privilege of helping to tug at the rope,
which was thrown over the limb, and with a sudden jerk Sullivan, who had
been lying motionless and apparently unconscious on the ground, was raised
to a sitting posture. Another pull and his head and shoulders were
visible above the black mass of those that surrounded the spot.

A terrible scene followed. The body was pushed from hand to hand and
several drew pocket knives and lunged at the swinging corpse. Others
began to tear the clothing and in a few moments only the shreds of his
shirt remained hanging to his shoulders. When the body was lowered to the
ground, portions of the mob which had been unable to get close enough to
take a hand in the actual hanging, seized upon the rope and dragged the
lifeless body through the mire.

Afterward the crowd dragged him about the streets and around the
courthouse square.

This Was a Hot Jury.

The coroner's jury held an inquest today in the case of William Sullivan,
who was lynched last night. The verdict was that he came to his death by
suicide. No mention whatever was made in the verdict of lynching.

Sullivan Berehaven to Australia

My Great Great Great Grandparents were Peter and Margaret Sullivan, who came to Australia in the mid 1800’s and settled into farming at Coolac, NSW. Their grave inscription at Coolac cemetery notes that Peter was a native of Clanlaurence Berehaven, County Cork. Peter was born in 1810. Peter and Margaret’s children were Daniel, Catherine, John, Patrick and Margaret (my Great Grandmother). From a record of death, Peter’s parents were Patrick and Honora Sullivan, Castletown Berehaven. I have not been able to find any information regarding their trip to Australia.
In Riobard O'Dwyer’s well earned retirement, I would be pleased to hear if anyone else has any information on the family prior to their moving to Australia, or relatives to this day.
My 2nd-great grandfather's name was David. E. Sullivan. He was born February 22, 1852. He married Sarah Brooks Winchell in 1874. However, I can't seem to find the name of his father. If anyone knows anything, I will REALLY appreciate it!
