I have documented proof that at least one Texas family's name was changed from Taxis. They are related to the famous von Thurn und Taxis family. I have pedigree back to the 1200s. I am seeking to correspond with members of the Taxis family who are descended from a Friedrich Charles, or Karl (Carl) Friedrich Taxis, who was born in Besigheim, in 1881, and emigrated to Missouri about 1900-1904. I have a German newspaper article about him, plus a photograph of him and his wife.

Looking for info on Xavier TAXIS out of Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH. His daughter, Louise TAXIS marred William KREIGER of Dayton. Their daughter, Helen A. KREIGER married George William PERCHMENT, brother to my GGrandmother, Clara Katherine PERCHMENT EDWARDS.

My father was George Taxis Vance. His mother was Helen I. Taxis. His grandfather, who was in Civil War from IL, was Gideon Richardson Taxis. Gideon's father was John B. Kathrina Karoline Taxis, born 13 May 1834, in Deizisau, Württemberg, was the daughter of Christoph Heinrich Taxis, and Eva Magdalena Zimmermann. Kathrina is listed on the Württemberg Emigration List as applying to emigrate to N. Amer. in Mar 1854. Her name is shown as Katharina Karoline Taxis. She also appears in Filby's, with her name also listed as Katharina Karoline Taxis. What happened to Kathrina / Katharina once she came to N. Amer.? Did she go to the U.S.A. or Canada? Many thanks.

The Taxis Surname Project had a slow start in 2005. Although I have received many inquires about the project, only three people have joined the project so far. I am hoping that we will be able to attract more participants in 2006. The results of the first three tests may be viewed from a link on the project's homepage (http://www.taxisdna.com). I am seeking a copy of the death record, or an LDS microfilm number where it can definately be found, of Johann Baptista von Taxis (a.k.a. Jean B. de la Tour et Tassis; or Johannes von Thurn und Taxis), who died either on 16 October 1541, or 06 December 1542, Regensburg, Bayern. Johann Baptista was born about 1470, the son of Ruggiero II de Tasso and Alegria Albricci. Johann Baptista was married to Christina von Wachtendonk, whom he pre-deceased. Thank you.

I am seeking either a copy of the death record, or an LDS microfilm number, showing the death of Christina (von Wachtendonk) von Taxis (or perhaps under de la Tour et Tassis, or von Thurn und Taxis), who died on 05 January 1561, in Malines (Mechelen), Belgium. Christina was the widow of Johann Baptista von Taxis (born about 1470; died 16 October 1541). Johann Baptista was also known as Jean B. de la Tour et Tassis. Does anyone know where this date was taken from? If it was from an LDS microfilm, what is the microfilm number (only if you know for certain)? If it was from another source (beside the Europäisch Stammtafeln), what source was it? Thank you.

I rented LDS microfilm #1045344 (re: item #3), "Die Leichenpredigten der Kreisbibliothek Regensburg" (Funeral sermons from the Regensburg State Archives) in the hope of finding a funeral sermon for one of my husand's von Taxis ancestors. I did not find what I was looking for, but I did come across the following entries on page 11, which are for 2 of my husband's cousins (numerous x's cousins):

Wilhelm "Xaver" Maximilian Taxis was born on 31 July 1851, in Deizisau, Württemberg. He was the son of Christian Wilhelm Taxis and Johanna Leonberger. Xaver married Christiane Wilhelmine Taxis on 19 Oct 1874, in Deizisau. She was the daughter of Johann Christoph Taxis and Rosina Barbara Bühl. A German cousin shows Xaver as dying in the U.S.A., but no other information. Does anyone have any additional information on his life and death in the United States? Thank you.

Johann Friedrich Taxis, the son of Johann Georg (von) Taxis and his second wife, Sophia Maria Toberer, was baptized on 04 November 1708, in the Evangelische Kirche, Pfaffenhofen, Württemberg. He married Anna Catharina Schneider, on 08 November 1729, in Pfaffenhofen. I don't show any children for them, nor do I have any dates and places of death. Any information would be appreciated. I am trying to prove (or disprove) that Carlin von Taxis, Postmaster of Deizisau, Württemberg, was the same man as Karl von Taxis, baptized 1569, in Graz, Austria. Supposedly Karl von Taxis of Graz, was of the line Taxis of Zwölfaxing and Hauswerth. I understand that there is information (or a genealogy chart) on that line in Band (Volume) 5 of the Europäische Stammtafeln, but I do not have access to that book. I am seeking descendants of Carl Ferdinand Taxis, who was born 01 Feb 1822, Deizisau, the son of Johannes Taxis and Christina Barbara Bauer. Carl Ferdinand married Caroline Dorothee Keller (born 21 Dec 1827, Asperg) on 27 Nov 1855, Markgröningen. While researching another line in Asperg, I came across the marriage proclamation of this couple. By doing a little internet research, I see that they are related to my husband's Deizisau (von) Taxis line.
