Hi, this is a very old post I know, but if you are still researching the Taylors, my Other Half is a descendant of your Joseph Taylor's brother Benjamin Taylor.

Benjamin married Margaret Ann Flintoft, then Betsey Johnson. His son, also Benjamin, started out as a joiner in Guisborough, but moved to Leeds and somehow reinvented himself as an architect. He married Eliza Summerson (one son, Benjamin Flintoff Taylor), then Ann Watson (children Eleanor, John Thomas, William Henry and Herbert Henry).

I have a photocopy of your Robert Flintoff Taylor's English marriage certificate; he married Elizabeth Martain of Monkstown Co. Dublin, Ireland on May 2nd 1847. They moved to Leeds with their children, but Elizabeth died around 1853 which is when Robert emigrated.

I'm interested in where the information about Joseph and Benjamin snr's parents (Benjamin Taylor and Mary Connell) came from, as I haven't been able to make that connection.

My father had a brother named Harold. They had a brother named Ralph. My grandmothers name was Jessie. It doesn't sound like this is the same link. If I can be of any more help, please let me know.

Richard I would love to help, but I do not have the researches to travel to the area's to obtain the information that is needed. I do know on yahoo groups there is a Taylor Research group already, which has Taylors from these area.There are one or tow fne researchers on there.. Even with my own Taylor Clan, I have only been able to go back to the 1700(late)due to accessing documentation.But if you ever need help, I can try to help you.

I have a William Franklin Taylor who was born in 1825 in Henryville, Clark Co., IN. I found a document once which said his father was born in Kentucky and his name was William. Of course when I went to find it again, the library was a video store and "most of that old stuff was gotten rid of when the library moved." The best I have found since is a William (or Judson) Taylor born 1793 in KY.

I'm hoping to identify the Lemuel C. Taylor who on 2 Jul 1860 received a land patent for the purchase from the U.S. Government of 160 acres in Jackson, Sevier County, Arkansas. I haven't found him on the 1860 census, which was taken two months later. I'd estimate he was probably born 1800-1840, but have no other information about him. Would he fit with anyone from your research?

Elias Taylor (son of John Taylor and Sarah (Cummings) Taylor) was born on January 16, 1726 at Merrimac, New Hampshire (some other biographies state that he was born on January 16,1727 at New Bedford, Massachusetts) and he died on May 29, 1777 at Fort Ticonderoga, New York. He married Mary Johnson of Parson McGreggor's colony (the original settlers of Londonderry, New Hampshire) in 1751. Mary Johnson was born on July 25, 1730, and died on December 5, 1797. Elias Taylor and his family were among the earliest settlers at Cushnoc (later Hallowell), Maine. He first settled on Lot #21 on the west side of Kennebec River, prior to 1761, and then settled on Lot #238 in East Readfield in 1771. In the fall of 1776, he enlisted to fight in the Revolutionary War, was drafted from Colonel Joseph North's regiment into the Continental Army engaged for the Town of Winthrop and served in Captain John Mills' company of Colonel Jeduthan Baldwin's regiment. Continental Army accounts to May 31, 1777 reported him as deceased. He died at Fort Ticonderoga, New York of smallpox on May 29, 1777. The Town of Winthrop, Maine voted to supply the widow Mary (Johnson) Taylor with provisions in the amount of one-half of her late husband’s wages. Elias Taylor and Mary (Johnson) Taylor had nine children:

1. Deborah: born in 1752, died in 1754.
2. John: born in 1754, died on May 19, 1777 of small pox in military service.
3. Sarah: born in 1757, first married David Clark of Hallowell, then married Jeremiah Jones and then married Major William Livermore.
4. Mary: born in 1759, married Thomas Hinkley of Hallowell.
5. Elias, Jr.:, born on February 21, 1762, was the first white child to be born at Cushnoc, within the present limits of Augusta, Maine. He moved to Readfield with his father and mother in 1771. He enlisted in the Continental Army on January 1, 1780 from Winthrop into Captain John Blunt's company. He married Betsey Knowlton in 1782. He and Betsey lived at Belgrade, Maine and had six children: 1. Joel (b.1783), 2. Martha (b.1785), 3. Sarah (b.1787), 4. Betsey (b.1789), 5. Elias III (b.1792) and 6. John (b.1795). Elias Taylor Jr. was a Calvinist Baptist minister and the first pastor of the South Church, Rockwood Corner, Belgrade. He received a military service pension from the US Congress on July 23, 1832, died on January 19, 1845 at Belgrade and was buried at Woodside Cemetery at Belgrade.
6. Anderson: born in 1763, married P. Pease of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. In 1810, they moved to western New York State, and had six children: John Anderson, P. Pease, James, Harriet and Elizabeth.
7. Joel: born in 1765 at Belgrade, Maine and had 9 children.
8. Anne: born in 1767 and married Deacon Nathaniel Blake.
9. Samuel: born in1769 and married Elizabeth Crowell.

My grandfather was Archibald Benjamin Taylor and my gg was Thomas L. Taylor, both born in Nashville, GA. I know Archie lived in Florida for a while because that's where my dad was born.

He was born in Charlton, Saratoga County (then Albany Co), NY and they lived primarily in Ballston Spa, Saratoga Co, NY. The Taylor's in my family tree are from Great Washbourne which was in the Civil Parish of Overbury Alston, Gloucestershire. They are also registered in Charringworth in the Civil Parish of Ebrington, Gloucestershire. You may find a connection as Stow on the Wold is not that far away.

Maybe living in California, Mississippi or Mobile Alabama? ROBERT (Sunny) TAYLOR is about 72 years old now and worked at General Motors Vehicle Production Plant in South Gate, California around 1959 to 1963. Ollie TAYLOR was working at the LA. County Fair Grounds in Pomona, Ca. They had a son named ROBERT TAYLOR born about 1958 or 1959 (now about 50 years of age).
I believe they both would now be in their early 70's to mid 70's now.
ROBERT (Sunny) TAYLOR was from Mobile, Alabama and I believe he has family there. He played the guitar ard sung with friends in his home at Rowland Heights, Ca.
