Toole from Dublin

Classification: Query
Surnames: TOOLE, O'TOOLE, MORRISSEY, WILLIAMS, MOVELLE, TERRICK
My great grandfather was born John Joseph Toole, Sr. in Dublin on 2 Feb 1865. He married Hannah MORRISSEY in Chicago in 1886.

His father’s name was John and his mother's was Catherine WILLIAMS. He was born at 3 Albert Court in Dublin. There is a Mary living at 5 Albert Court in the 1850 Dublin Directory. There is a possibility that Catherine went home to have her baby.

John Joseph and Hannah had eight children in Chicago. When he came to the US, he put back the O’ on to Toole. I am told they took off the O’ because it denoted as being of Catholic origin and to get work, one had to appear Protestant. The eight O'TOOLE kids are - 5 boys and 3 girls: John Joseph, Jr, Loretto Marea, Edwin Columbus (grandpa), Harold Kenry (Hal), Francis (France), Lawrence (Lol), Hannah Marie, and Mary Margaret.

The history of the MORRISSEY clan goes all the way back to1773 and some French Canadian (or Basque fisherman depending on whose history you listen to) 4 x great grandfather named Louis MOVELLE. He married Elizabeth TERRICK, a lady from Wales. The problem is I cannot find anything about them. In addition, I sent away for John Joseph Sr.'s parents' marriage certificate, but received the wrong one. Additionally, I cannot find where or when they came in to the US.

I am looking for A connection to the Tooles.
