Daughter of Mariam Treadwell/George Devane???

Hello All, I've just racked my brains and proved a great, great grandmother, (after years of searching!) and of course it's lead me to another brickwall. James Thomas Langham married Nancy Ann Smith. Years after their death a lady shows up in one of their son's household as his Aunt, after tracing the Spinster aunt backwards, I finally proved Nancy's parentage, ( with a Smith name that's an accomplishment by itself!). Anyway, Nancy's parents are Tryon and Mary. I found a couple of references as Mary's maiden name being Devane, daughter of George Devane and Mariam Treadwell, (Mariam is also the spinster aunt's name!).

I find Tryon in Bladen County, North Carolina in 1800, 1810 and 1820. 1830 he disappears, then reappears in Monroe County, Alabama for the years 1840 and 1850. The 1850 census gives his year of birth as 1770 and Mary's as about 1785. Mary and Mariam show up in her son's home in 1860 by which time Tryon's dead. By 1870 Mary is dead.

Has anyone ran across this family? If anyone can even give me a hint of where to go to now, I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Thanks in advance
Sherry
Mobile, Al

My gg grandparent Michael and Honora (Collins) Sullivan married at St. Georges Cathedral Southwark Westminster Bridge Road on 23 Nov 1862. The witnesses were Margaret Shea and Daniel Daley. Margaret Shea is enumerated in the 1851-1861 with husband Dennis and sons Dennis as well as her mother Julia Farrell (1861 only). I believe she is also enumerated in 1871 with Ann Manning, Bridget Ivers, and Katherne Shea. I'm looking into the possibility that Margaret Shea is related to either Michael or Honora. Is any working on these family lines?
I'm interested in the Treadwells among the first settlers of the present-day town of Treadwell, Delaware Co., NY. Some names that come up in local history are Miner, Hartson and Chester T. I want to know how they are connected to L.I. Treadwells.???

Treadwells and The Merchant House in NYC

I have Treadwells in my ancestry, and just found out that The
Merchant House in NYC ( a very old merchants home) was owned by Seabury Tredwell. Does anyone have any links with this man or know about his descendants? My Treadwells are Sue Treadwell, who married Wm. Fish, Daniel and Cynthia Treadwell, and Edward and Cathering Treadwell-Edward having been born in 1807. This house is older than that, though. Mine come from New York City and Connecticut.

I'm a descendant of Isaac Treadwell and Martha Johnson. Their son, John Thomas, was born 1819 in Clarke Co., GA and died 1877 in Walton Co. I have that his wife was Elizabeth Gunter, and would like to confirm this and her parentage. Their known children were James, J.B., Columbus, Marion, Middleton, Elijah, and Isaac. I know next to nothing about any of these. More importantly, I need more information on James, my progenitor. He was born 1852 in Walton Co., GA and died 1933 in Barrow Co., GA. He is in the 1900 DeKalb Co., GA census. Known children were Rosa Lee, Susie, Ira, Georgia, and Jefferson C. I have that his wife was Mary Vickers, but I have found nothing supporting this, no record of a Vickers family in the area, etc. Please help!!!

Benson Gager Treadwell, Rockford (Winnebago Co.) IL

I have an original studio photograph of “Benson Gager Treadwell”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in Rockford (Winnebago Co.) IL in around 1900 (based on the type of photo).

One World Tree shows an Abram Treadwell (born 1832) married to an Emily A. Gager (born 1839) so I suspect that they are somehow connected to “Benson Gager Treadwell”. I found a Benson Treadwell who lived in Georgia (Born 26 Sep 1900, died in 1980), but I do not know for sure if this is the same man as was pictured. I think it is, but possibly family members can tell from the photo, which I would be glad to scan.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Benson Gager Treadwell

Hannah Mariah Treadwell

I am looking for information on the parents and siblings of Hannah Mariah Treadwell, who was christened on 13.7.1837 in Coventry, Warwick, ENG. Here parents were Edward Treadwell and Catherine Skinner. Hannah appears to have lied about her age many times throughout her life, so much so that no one knows exactly how old she was at certain times in her life. Her christening date, however, matches her age at marriage on 25.12.1856 in North Adelaide, South Australia to William Pickering. They had 9 children and she married again after her first husband's death. She travelled to Australia on the 'Shackamaxon' in 1855. A story goes that she had a brother who worked in Buckingham Palace.

Morning Star School - Searcy Co., AR

I recieved a picture on a mailing list that was taken about 1915 or 1916 in Searcy Co., AR. The school is listed as Morning Star School formerly Loafer's Glory. The picture was published in the Marshall Mountain Wave in Oct. 1997. There are quite a few children that are unidentified in the picture. The teacher was William Samuel Garrison and in the pic is Bessie (Beavers) Garrison. There are three Treadwell children identified in the picture and I am trying to find out who the parents of these children are. There is a boy about 16 by the name of Ray Treadwell, there is a girl about 13 or 14 listed as Ray Elizabeth Treadwell, and then there is a small girl maybe 8 listed as Fay Treadwell. The boy looks to be quite tall and slender. If anyone has any idea of who these children are, please contact me. If you want to see the picture and get a complete list of children pictured you may contact me.
<tread40@msn.com>
Thanks,
R. Recently met Carol Jean Dimmitt at the funeral service for Marjorie Eloise Boyd and would think it would be fun to see where everyone is these days. Treadwell was a fabulous photographer and took many many photos of my grandparents and great-grandparents.

I am researching my grandfather Henry Young who was a servant in the house of Dr H. P. Treadwell in Geneva, AL. I am interested to know how he came to be there. The story we have been told is that his that his Dad killed his Mom then killed himself and Henry was raised by Dr. Treadwell. Any information you may have about this would be greatly appreciated. We are sort of stuck here unless we can figure out how Henry came to live with the Treadwell's and possibly where he came from and who his parents were.

Treadwells in Ark and Tennessee pre 1850

I am looking for the parents of Daniel C. Treadwell, father of Stephen Clement Treadwell. Daniel C. Treadwell was in Shelby County between 1820 and 1830. He died there in 1841. Among his sons were Stephen Clement Treadwell, who moved to Arkansas. I believe that DC Treadwell's wife was Chloe McDaniel. Any help on DC would be appreciated.

Walt Treadwell

I come from a line of Treadwells that I know nothing about. My Grandfather was Walter F. Treadwell. I believe he was born 12-4-1887, died in 1970. Rumor has it he was born in N. Carolina, but not sure of that. He lived in south Georgia area and died there. He is buried in Quitman, Brooks Co. Ga, which is near Valdosta Ga, at Florida state line. I know he was married twice. The first wife I do not know her name. (but would like too) A daughter from first marriage was named Ophelia Treadwell.
The second wife was Bertha Sullivan. Walt and Bertha had 2 sons together after they married. Those sons were Gene Treadwell ( who died as a child) and James Curtis Treadwell. He was born about 1935 and is still living. Any help with Walter Treadwell and his ancestory is much appreciated.

She married Marvin Timothy Treadwell Sr. and had 5 children: Ralph, Mary Emma, Rankin, Eve, and Marvin Jr. She had at least 2 sisters (one named Mattie). The sisters had a restaurant in Corpus Christie, Texas and my grandfather (Ralph) referred to it as the 3 sisters restaurant (I don't know if this was the official name or if grandpa just called it that).
There is rumor that she was part American Indian. Does anyone have any information on my ggrandmother? Thank you
