Thomas Trevithick

My great-great grandfather was Thomas Trevithick who emigrated from UK to Australia. I believe Richard Trevithick (Cornwall) was his uncle.
Anyone got any information they would like to share?

First time posting on this topic. My first ancestor in Australia was Thomas Trevithick born 1835 Kenwyn, son of William Trevithick and Ann Watkins Allen, died Hill End NSW 1913.

There has always been a suggestion that this line is descended from Richard Trevithick. I've had a great deal of difficulty establishing Thomas' parentage, but this is how I believe it goes.

Thomas was born in 1835, baptised in Kenywn, Cornwall.

Thomas' third marriage certificate in 1900 in Hill End NSW to Mary A GREEN confirms the names of his parents as William and Ann nee ALLEN. Some confusion arose I believe because when Thomas married his first wife Elizabeth Randal CANDY in 1853 in Plymouth, England his father is stated as Thomas, a Gardner. Thomas and Elizabeth's arrival records on the 'Panama' from the Victorian PROV would help - but they don't allow people to order like in NSW so are inaccesible to me.

I had a great deal of difficulty finding a marriage for Thomas' parents William TREVITHICK and Ann ALLEN, this is because Ann ALLEN first married William PENGILLY in 1827:

William PENGILLY died in 1830, Age: 40, Residence: Kenwyn Street, after they'd baptised only one child, William Henry, in 1828 (IGI).

The widowed Ann PENGILLY then married William TREVITHICK in 1834 (From Cornwall Online Parish Clerks site):

Groom's condition: Bachelor
BRIDE: Ann PENGILLY
Bride's condition: Widower

I believe a combination of the incorrect writing/transcription and Ann ALLEN's intervening marriage conspired to make it difficult to uncove them.

William TREVITHICK and Ann ALLEN/PENGILLY had two children that i've found:

THomas TREVITHICK (1835-1913), and Elizabeth baptised Wesleyan, Truro 1837 and buried aged 4 in 1842. In the meantime, Thomas' father William was buried in 1838 (Cornwall online parish clerks site):

Name: William TREVITHICK
Age: 32
Residence: St Clements

In the 1841 census, the widowed Ann Trevithick is living on Kenwyn St with Thomas and Elizabeth, along with her son William TREVITICK (previously PENGILLY) from her first marriage.

So William TREVITHICK (also written TREVIDICK) was born about 1806 according to his age at death, married the widower Ann Watkins PENGILLY nee ALLEN in Kenwyn in 1834 and died in 1838 in Kenwyn, Cornwall. He was a labourer according to his sons baptismal transcript.

Does anyone out there have information they can add to this, or any idea where William was born and who his parents are?

I would like to hear from any descendants of my Great Aunt Lucretia (nee Martin) Trevithick. Born in Moonta S.Aust in March 1883. She was married to 'William Mill Trevithick' on 4th August 1906 in Pt Pirie Sth Aust. Aunt Lucretia was buried in Western Australia (I would like to know why as the rest of her family are buried in Sth Aust). The inscription reads: (TREVITHICK, Lucretia, wife of William Mill, mother of Laurel, Richard, William and Lucretia aged 68 years.) Lucretia was my grandmother's (Laura Martin) sister. I'm looking for any information on Mary A. Trevithick, who married Jeremiah Jospeh Ewer in 1885 in Newtown NSW.

They lived in the Bathurst and Wellington region in the late 1800's, but were living in Sydney by 1904.

Walton Trevithick

A World Family Tree short pedigree showed that Walton married Neva Ruth Gaddy, that her parents were Curtis Weaver Gaddy and Dorothy Lee Boyles. Evidently a member of that family submitted the chart. I do not have any addresses or dates to help your search. Perhaps a search of that Chart would yield some results.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Richard K. Trevithick, 20, of Gaines, Mich., died April 14 in Balad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device exploded near his convoy vehicle. Trevithick was assigned to the Army’s 9th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

The incident is under investigation.

A Trevithick family reunion is planned to be held in July 2006 at Penzance, Cornwall, England for descendants of Thomas Trevithick, 1697 and Mary Bennett, 1706 (both born in the Tywardreath area, Cornwall, England). Date and venue to be confirmed.

Some family names descending from this line are Rebecca Searle, 1734; Honor Perrow, 1782; Susan Bassett, 1805; Anne Kennedy, 1831; Rosa Jane Fletcher, 1866; Caruana, 1889.

I am Looking for information and family links on the above. According to records found - Henry John married Jane Dunstan at Stithians on 20 Sep 1846. Jane's parents are listed as John Dunstan and Grace Richards.

Anyone who can add to this I would love to hear from as the Dunstan line is a difficult one to trace.

I am researching the Trevithick families line who originated from Devon and Cornwall, particularly the the descendants of William John Trevithick (born Ireland) and his wife Eliza Paul Tonkin,William parents were JohnTrevithick (1834) and Ann Kennedy (born Ireland 1831), William's son Thomas married a Welsh girl called Margaret Quinn.
I believe this family may have moved to the Liverpool area.
