This family emigrated to Osceola and Mecosta Counties in Michigan about 1882. I will be glad to exchange information about descendants of this family and I would like information about Charlotte TRIBE's ancestors.

The 1851 census for North Dorchester, Middlesex County, Ontario shows that James and Mary Tribe owned land which they famed together with my relatives. One relative, John Yeo, married Caroline Tribe and they had five children, moving to Lapeer County, Michigan, by 1860. James Smith who also lived there married Carolyn Tribe, and they had at least six children before she died of tuberculosis in 1914. James Smith then married Elizabeth Ann Yeo, and they had three children. Also lived in Lapeer County, Michigan.

I would welcome hearing from anyone who has information about these families. Will be happy to share my information as well. Suggest you use e-mail. Bob Yeo

Hello everyone,
I am on the search for a Thomas Tribe born 1827 that immigrated from LOdsworth England with his relatives in 1832 to the Toronto, Ontario area.
Thomas was the son of Robert Tribe and Mary Puttick. His siblings were Rueben 1835, Charlotte 1844, Ellen 1846, and Robert 1850.

In my research I have a Thomas Tribe born 1827 that married my ancestor Rachael Dennes in 1844 in Bayham Ontario.
I am hoping this is the same gentleman that immigrated from England in 1832.
Any help on this Thomas Tribe would be greatly appreciated.
Waiting anxiously for your reply.

tribe surname

Just a little information for those seeking information about the tribe surname. Around 1650 "tribes" appear to have centered the town of Petworth in the county of sussex. Later on there were quite a few in the neighbouring county of surrey. There was a well established Long-cased (sometimes called grandfather clocks) clockmaker in Petworth called John Tribe. You can find him mentioned in all authoritative works on UK clockmakers. I can't find any reference to tribes earlier than about 1550. Interestingly enough, a lot of Trieb surname people start to appear about this date in exactly the same area whilst the tribe surname vanishes and yet triebs have disappeared a century later. My guess is that Trieb "clan" - obviously from a german speaking area - with perhaps special skills in "mehanics" - gradually switched their spelling to mimic a common english word. There appears no logic for an english person to call himself tribe as a surname.

Many scandinavian and german immigrants to UA and Canada modified their names in the last century in the same way to come closely to standard american enlish spelling!

Tribes in Sussex, New Brunswick

Seeking any info on James Albert Tribe early 1800s in Kings County, NB specifically Upper Wards Creek and Sussex area. He married Deborah Stapleford (Stableford) (1) and (2) Annie Hicks for a total of 18 children, 14 of which survived. The names and dates of birth of many have been established but we are still searching to find how James A. got there and from where - we suspect Sussex, UK but have made no conneections. Thanks.

I am looking for information on my great-grandmother. She married Thomas Nichols and had 3 or 4 daughters one of which was my grandmother Violet Bell Nichols who was born in Jeffries, WS on 6/23/10. My father thinks that she lived in WS when she passed away but he can not remember the year. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated. ~~ T. Blayden

New Tribe Family Tree For You.

I've just uploaded my Tribe Family Tree
here - but it doesnt seem to have loaded
properly.. So.. If any of you would like
to see if you're related or if any of the names
I have on here ring a bell, use this URL to get there:

http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/t/r/i/Scott-Tribe/

Our family research grounds to a halt around
1830. Any additional help for finding our relatives beyond that date would
be most helpful, as we in Canada and England who've been
trying to research it have been frustrated.
