I bought a box at an auction in Houghton, Michigan that contained some family photos. I would like to get these to a family member. The estate was that of Edward and Evelyn (Trowbridge) Gilles. There are several rather old photos and a few that I am guessing are not as old. All are black and white and taken by professional photographers. From the obituary I know that Evelyn (Trowbridge) Gilles was
b. Sept 15, 07; d. Aug 10, 99; Married Edward Gilles in 41; was the daughter of Everette Trowbridge and Helen Pryor. I would love to get these photos to a family member or distant relative that may be doing genealogy work.
Olive Sacket/Sackett is listed in F.B.T.'s book as the wife of Dr. James Trowbridge (1792-1816). They were married in 1816 in what is now Warren, MA. After he died in Wisconsin, she moved back to NY and remarried. I've been trying to find her birth records and info about her parents. F.B.T lists her father as Adner Sackett & Mary Barker. Some trees on the web have her as Mary Baker. Has anyone found evidence for her parents?
Thanks,

Rescued Photo, Edwin Kellogg TROWBRIDGE, New York

As a hobby, I rescue old photos that have identification in them.

I just picked up one, of a handsome young man, with dark hair. The photographer was Marion in New York City, NY.
He is identified as E. Kellogg Trowbridge.

I did a little research and found him in the 1910 & 1920 census's. In 1910 he lived in Manhattan and in 1920 he lived in Bedford, NY. I also located his WWI Draft Registration. It lists his name as Edwin Kellogg Trowbridge. His wife's first name is Virginia.

I'd like to locate family to turn this over to. For details please contact me at: digginroots@yahoo.com

Thank you-
Kathy

For some time I have been questioning the exact date/year of the death of William Trowbridge (2) who married Elizabeth Lamberton/Sellivant. In the Trowbridge Genealogy by Francis Bacon Trowbridge, p 123, it states he died November, 1688 and footnote makes mention of his inventory although there is no date. However: in the Barbour records, his date of death is November 1690.. who is correct? Has anyone examined the actual estate papers that might make mention of when he died? Why is there a discrepancy? Unfortunately, he did not make a will, but surely there must be information in the administration of his estate????

Parents of Elizabeth Troebridge (?) Crissey

It is my understanding that a common naming convention was to name the first born son after the mother's father and the second born after the father's father. The first born daughter was named after the father's mother and the second born after the mother's mother. If this is correct Alexander and Elizabeth's first two sons and daughters are in birth order are Alva, Hester, Sarah and Nathaniel. This would make Alexander's parents Nathaniel and Hester and Elizabeth's Alva and Sara. Both were born about 1812, He in Westchester and she in Dutchess.
In 1810 I found a Alva Troebridge in Dutchess
What I need is is this Alva's wife Sara and did they have a daughter Elizabeth?

My grandfather was James Herbert Trowbridge and mother Jane Hayter. He was born in Wiltshire England and migrated to the US in 1914 but left his father Stephen Herbert Trowbridge. He went to live with his uncle Sam Hayter in Largo Florida. We have relatives still in Wiltshire area cousins Allen and Dennis Trowbridge.

David Trowbridge m 1735 Lydia Holmes

I am trying to find the parents of Lydia. According to the Trowbridge genealogy by Francis Bacon Trowbridge, these two were married July 3, 1735 and in a family bible Lydia is referred to as "of Bedford". There is a Bedford in Westchester County, NY. Was there a Bedford in New Jersey at the time?

There also seems to be a question as to whether she was actually a Holmes. One researcher has suggested that Obediah Holmes 1681 of Rhode Island was her ancestor. Can anyone make that connection for me?

I am trying to find information on John Thomas Trowbridge, born 1883, who was living in Wolfeboro, NH in 1947. His wife's name was Lillian and he had two daughters, Barbara & Jean and a son who drowned on Lake Winnipesaukee in 1947. As far as I know he was an Anglican minister.

Also, John's two sisters, Mary(Polly) and Lillias who were living in Cambridge, MA in 1955. Both were born in the late 1880's. As far as I know Mary never married but Lillias married Norman Munn.

These people are my grandfather's siblings and I am trying to find out who my great-grandparents might have been.

Hello,

Wondering if anybody on the board/list might descend from Amariah TROWBRIDGE (b: 1830 in NJ to Benjamin Ludlam TROWBRIDGE and Hudlah WARD) and his wife Anna PACE. They lived in Oakland County, Michigan. I actually connect via the PACE line, but thought I'd see if I might be able to connect to any of their descendants. I show their children were:

Sophia Trowbridge b: 1852 in Michigan
Lunetta Trowbridge b: 1856 in Michigan
Cora Trowbridge b: 1859 in Michigan
Sarah Trowbridge b: 1863 in Michigan
Sherman Trowbridge b: 1866 in Michigan
William Trowbridge b: 1867 in Michigan
Fay Trowbridge b: 1871 in Michigan
Frederick Trowbridge b: 1875 in Michigan

If you descend from this line or have additional information on the family, I'd like to hear from you. Thanks.

Scott

Pension Records of Albert Anderson Trowbridge

I recently rec'd the NARA Pension Records of my family member, Bartley Greenwood Cox, who died while serving in the CW. Also included were the pension records of Albert Anderson Trowbridge, who married Bartley's widow, Mary Smira Arteburn Cox in 1866. There is a lot of information in these records that I would be happy to share. I am especially looking for information/lead on the surviving children of Bartley and Mary Cox; Franklin N., who may have married a Lucy Cheely and daughter Marie L. Cox. Both Cox children were born in MO, 1853 and '55 respectivley. Albert was married first to Mary's sister, Melvina and had one child, Dorinda. Albert and Mary also had children together.

Seeking the Samuel married to Martha(Patty) Bruster/Brewster (b.10/25/1783). The Bruster family lived in proximity to Billy Trowbridge (not his son Samuel) and Thomas Trowbridge families in Dutchess Co. NY until @1800 and the children of Caleb and Bethia Trowbridge (Caleb, Elisha, and Heman) 1805-1820 (Tompkins Co. NY). Matched 10 Samuels born 1750-1800 with spouses. Only outstanding Samuels with unknown spouses are the son of James and Elizabeth Trowbridge (b.1/25/1779), son of Keeler and Hannah Trowbridge (b.7/14/1778), and a Samuel (b.@1782) in N.Salem,NY. There are a few Samuels in the early census data that do not appear in on line family trees or the printed genealogical text.

I am going over my early, old research on the Trowbridge/Goodwin families and see I still need some information: Is there more information to be found on Joseph Goodwin who md. Margaret Trowbridge abt 1694? I have so little on him other than this marriage and that he died 1711 in New Haven (taken from Families of Ancient New Haven that I no longer have access to); who was he, where did he come from? Next: who was the Mrs. Leete in Early Probate Records of New Haven (NEHGR 81:127) who had a husband William; made bequests to (among others mentioned) "a grand daughter Sarah Trowbridge, to the rest of the children of Thomas and Sarah Trowbridge...." . Which Trowbridge family comes into this picture?

Does anyone know of this family? Susannah Bartholomew was my g-g-g-g-grandmother, b. abt 1777, in Whitehall, Washington Co, NY, and married Dyer Beckwith, b. abt 1774 in East Haddam, CT. Have seen posted that she had a 2nd husband named SERENO TROWBRIDGE and had 4 chlrn by this man - Erastus, Cyrenus, Caleb and Mary. The puzzling part-Susannah died BEFORE her 1st husband, and is buried with him as Susannah Beckwith.... She died in 1848 and Dyer didn't die until 1859. Did she actually have this 2nd marriage? ANYONE that has information to this 2nd marriage, PLEASE CONTACT ME!

I just wanted to let everyone that is interested - that Trowbridge Mountain no longer exists. There was a mountain in the Randolph/Hanover area of Morris Cnty. that was named after the Trowbridges back in the mid-late 1800's. After some research, I found out that the area wich was once the Mountain has been taken over by a large development of Homes in the 1950's. Back in the 1980's - they named a street in Morristown "Trowbridge Drive" I guess to make up for the Mountain being taken away..Just thought you would like to know.

In trying to take care of some odds and ends of research notes, etc. I have come across p 99 of NEHGR 141 (1987) re Trowbridge.. It says: " A much longer monograph, incorporating Mr. Fitch-Northen's extensive research into this immigrants ancestry, including material collected to document his royal descent, will appear in Volume 8 (1987) of "The Genealogist" ....." etc. When I had access to research libraries, I was not able to find this publication/article - has anyone else had more luck? Is there really anything new re Thomas that was not covered in other sources?

You said that you were the granddaughter of a Mercy Trowbridge.

I am currently researching my husband's maternal grandmother's line of Trowbridges. I have a Mercy Trowbridge born about 1752 in Connecticut, daughter of Caleb and Jermina (Keeler) Trowbridge.

Is this the same Mercy as your grandmother? If so, I would love to talk to you a little more.

You can post back or email me at LCBoyer@charter.net

Thank you,

Lesley Boyer

I am trying to find out where the Trowbridges/Strowbridges that are in Newfoundland, Canada came from. The earliest record I can find is that of a Samuel and Susan Trowbridge who had a son, Samuel, born in Newfoundland between 1829 and 1835.
My grandfather is Henry Trowbridge who was born in Newfoundland and as far as I can find out his parents were Samuel Trowbridge and Viola ??. I cannot find out where they came from or who thier parents were.
Is anyone missing a Samuel from thier line? Can anyone help with further information?

Seeley (Seelye) Trowbridge, b. Aug 22, 1793, d. Apr 27, 1864

Hi, Trowbridge board members. I was looking in a cemetery near my home and found a grave for Seelye (yep, spelled just that way) Trowbridge with the dates above. There are several other Trowbridge family members buried there as well - a William D., b. Sep 2, 1825 d. Apr 4, 1899 and his wife Frances A., b. Aug 20, 1829, d. Sep 5, 1901; a Lewis S., 1853-1914; a Robert M., b. Jan 19, 1870, d. Jul 31, 1879; a Charles W., b. Nov 27, 1866, d. Jan 13, 1880; and an Edgar, son of S.A. and B.B. Trowbridge, b. Apr 15, 1910, d. Jun 2, 1917.

I thought I'd post this in case anyone is looking for them. I'm not related at all, but others have helped me locate family members in cemeteries and I thought I'd try and reciprocate. I didn't have any luck finding them on Ancestry, so I thought maybe others were having trouble locating them as well.

The cemetery is a fairly new one, but these tombstones are very obviously quite old. There is only a small area where these older ones are located, a few that are no longer readable at all. Other family names on tombstones that look to be of similar age are McGriff, Kindred and Hargis.

Feel free to contact me for cemetery information. If pictures are needed/wanted, please let me know. As I say, it's not far from my home and I try to help out where I can.

I was wondering if there were any other Trowbridge lines outside of New Jersey that have found massive heart problems, dating back generations thru current. Most of the NJ line, primarily the men, die very young with this problem. I'm curious to see how far back this problem goes and which lines it started with.
