I have an interest in Isaac Huron Burns, who died in Allendale, Bergen, NJ in 1943. He was born around 1855, probably in NY and I've traced him in Manhattan between 1880-1890 and then Brooklyn (ca 1890-1920). He married Josephine Zeller (b. NJ) around 1880 and they had a rather large family. In census, he usually gave his parental POBs as Ireland.

I have not seen a death or marriage record that might reveal ancestry. Thanks to inconsistencies, I have not been able to identify him in census prior to 1880, though I have a vague hunch who his parents were.

Isaac's wife passed away in Brooklyn in 1920 and by 1930 he was living in Allendale with a sister whose name is given as Alice B. Tynan. Can this be the Anna B. in your posting? The 1930 census also understates his age by 5-6 years and gives parental POBs as NY.

If Anna = Alice, things might come into better focus.

Can we connect via personal e-mail to share information I get from my contact with her? Click on my profile and send via the box labeled "contact this person". Did you ever hear back from George F.
Am excited about the prospect of exchanging more information, particularly if you receive a response from George Dorman (as he and I are the same generation descended from John Charles and Winifred). His mother and my mother were cousins unknown to each other, and BOTH were named Winifred after their grandmother Tynan. BTW, on your Hout family tree you have Tynan misspelled on your entries for Winifred Ann and John Charles (Tynam); and you entered a date of death under John Charles that is actually John Augustus (11/1963) due to the confusing way I wrote it in my response. More later.

John and Anna had two children Winifred and John.

Winifred Ann Tynan b. 13 Jul 1919 in Dunkirk, Chautauqua, New York. d. 09 Jan 1988 m. Howard Arthur Dorman on 06 May 1943 at St. Joseph Church, Fredonia, Chautauqua, New York b. 28 Jul 1915 in Fredonia, Chautauqua, New York d. 02 May 2003 in Fredonia, Chautauqua, New York

Winifred and Howard had one child, a son George F. Dorman. I called George (or at least I think it's him) on Saturday, left a message on his machine in hopes he'll call me back. Still waiting. :(

John Charles Tynan: b. 1923 in Fredonia, Chautauqua, New York. And thats all I have.

I'm glad I could help out, please if you find anything more, please don't hesiate in sharing, or if anything I could help with.

Matthew T.

My sister and I have just begun doing some research on various branches of our family. The Tynan/Keenan side is a challenge because both my grandmother and mother have been dead for a long time. So I am working off of "scraps" of information I recollect from things they mentioned many years ago and experimenting with sources such as census records. One difficulty is the inaccuracy and inconsistency of those records from decade to decade (plus the absence of 1890 records). As best I know at the moment, John Charles Tynan and Winifred F. Keenan married around 1885 in the Troy, NY area. They had five children: Joseph Charles (born 3/1886), John Augustus (born 8/4/1887), Thomas W. (born 12/1888), Mary Winifred (my grandmother, born 10/10/1891), and Frances (born 10/1893). Winifred died when my grandmother was about 12 (probably 1903 or 4). John Charles remarried in 1912. I found Joe and Tom's WWI draft records but none for John Augustus (the family called him Gus). The 1930 census transcription has the middle initial "O" in error. If you look at the original record, you can look at the handwriting and see that it could just as likely be an "A". Any info on their children?

The John Tynan you are refering to was my grandmother's older brother. John Augustus (Gus) Tynan, born Troy, NY 8/4/1887; second child/son of John Charles Tynan (born Ireland abt. 1854, emmigrated abt. 1866) and Winifred F. Keenan (born Ireland abt. 1858, emmigrated abt. 1868). I also found the 1930 census you are referring to and knew by the names of the children that he was the "lost" brother I had been searching for: daughter Winifred named for his mother and son John C. for his father. SSDI shows he died 11/1963 somewhere in the state of NY. Can you tell me anything about Anna M. Hout, his wife?

Would somebody please look up for me an obituary of Edward Walter Tynan, Jr., who died January 20, 1965, in Bexar County, Texas (probably in San Antonio)?

I think either he was (or at least he was closely related to) Walter Tynan, who was Bexar County District Attorney in the 1930s, and then a Texas Senator in the 1950s.

I am also wondering whether he he was related to Leo Tynan, Jr., who was later in the DA's Office.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you click on my username and/or go to the Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, board at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=l... you will see that I try to help with other people's obituary look-ups as much as I can.
Do any of you have any information about a World War 1 veteran of the British Army whose wife, Winnie Tynan, lived at 165 London Road in Sheffield. I do not know his first name, but his rank was Sapper. Instead of a stamp, one corner of each of his post cards is signed "Sapper Tynan 47716". He was stationed in France.

I have two postcards sent home by him to Mrs. Winnie Tynan in May of 1916. Each simply says, "Love & kisses from Daddy".

Go to www.vitalsearch-ca.com if you have a problem try a seach for "california death index" this will take you tolisting, you want the vital search site; see marriage, birth & death indexes; need to register but very safe, can then check John & Mary Tynan births of son Doug 10-16-1960 and Paul, also find children of Coggins/Outfleet and King/Outfleet. I would do a people search once you get all the births of children, most are most likely still living. www.rootsweb.com, left side, scroll down to Social Security Death index and search for "Outfleet". Note vital search under death you will find a John, mother Schnitjer, Father Uitvlugt. he born 6-18-1911 died 11-12-1955 in San Bernadino Calif, he was 44, also a 1 day baby Shawn Allen born 11-13-1989, died same day, mother was Thompson so she may be daughter in law of one of the Outfleets. Again do these, need lookups try www.raogk.org see if any volunteers do what you need in county and state you are seaching. go to www.ellisisland.org might find if they came to USA via New YOrk

Hello,
None of this information is familiar to me. However, you might be interested to know that my grandfather was named Robert Caroll Tynan (1914-1986). he told me when I was a child that he was named Caroll after close family members named Caroll from VA. One of these Caroll members is a signer on the Declaration of Independance.
The Caroll family and Tynan family names originate from the same area in Laios (formerly Queens) Couty in Ireland. He had presumed that the familys were friends long before the migration.
Perhaps we may be related. Please email me if you would like more info.
Jen

I found out my family is from the Parish of Galmoy in Kilkenny from a headstone in New Jersey from 1864. I think they came over during the famine, prior to 1856. I know for sure we want to go Galmoy and Dublin – not exactly sure where that is now.

I also have not yet made the hotel, guesthouse or rental car reservations.

Thank you in advance
Kathleen Tynan
Are any of you descended from any of the Doyles and Tynans buried in St. James Cemetery in Boone County, Illinois? Do any of you have any other information about any of the Doyle -Tynan families buried at St. James Cemetery in Boone County, Illinois?

I just found out that my great-great grandfather and G.G. grandmother Patrick Tynan and Winnifred (Doyle) Tynan are buried at St. James, next to their daughter Winnifred Tynan Fairgrieve. However, there are several other Doyles and Tynans buried there whom we did not know about.

I am guessing that some of the Doyles and/or Tynans buried at St. James Cemetary might be relatives of my great great grandparents Patrick and Winnifred Tynan. Can any of you shed light on this?

Thanks,
Steve Tynan
