Thank you. It is the Daddy I am interested in. I think the son died in the Civil War. Your answer confirms my supposition.

In the 1860 Fed Census, there is no wife but there is a Barsona Gunn Wynn living with them. She is my GGGgrandmother. This would make sense if Susan had died and the two are related and Barsona was helping with all of the children. How they are related, I am not sure yet.

Hi Diana,

Are you interested in Daddy Page or the Son? If Daddy, the information I seen says Susan's name is Susan C Gunn (or Gun). I cannot confirm whether this is true as I have not researched this line. This comes from other peoples personal pages, which I usually use as a 'jumping off point' until I can confirm the data.

Charlie Vines
www.vadenfrc.ancestryhost.org

Chesterfield records sometimes seem to use the names ROBINSON and ROBERTSON for the same people. I am not researching the ROBINSONs or ROBERTSONs, and I cannot tell you which is correct. All I can tell you is what some records show.
Catherine ROWLETT married Edward J. ROBINSON on 12 December 1825 in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
They had a daughter, Catherine ROBINSON, who married William M. ROBERTSON on 12 December 1850 in Chesterfield County.
Edward J. Robinson was postmaster of the post office at Wilkinson [aka Wilkinsville] in Chesterfield County from April 1827-April 1830 (VIRGINIA POSTMASTERS AND POST OFFICES, 1789-1832 by Edith F. Axelson, p. 44).
Edward seems to have died in the early 1830s, leaving Catherine a widow. Michael Wesley VADEN married Catherine on 5 April 1834 in Chesterfield County. The marriage record calls her Catherine ROBERTSON.
All 3 marriages are from Benjamin B. Weisiger's Marriage Bonds and Ministers' Returns of Chesterfield County, Virginia, 1816-1853 (1981)
Barbara,
I'm doing some research on the Vaden's from around Chesterfield / Farmville, VA. Were you ever able to locate Mary Jane Vaden's book? Since she was from Farmville, I feel like she might have had information on the families I'm researching. In particular - Michael Wesley Vaden, the father of Sarah Catherine Vaden Showalter. I'm trying to find out who Michael's wife was. One source says it was Catherine Rowlett, and another says it was Catherine Robertson. Any ideas?
Kathy (klsdalton@yahoo.com)

I am the administrator of The Vaden Family Research Center (http://www.vadenfrc.ancestryhost.org), a website established for collecting information on Vaden history. If possible, I would like a copy of the picture for the website.

Charlie

This is my grandmother you mention. I also would like a copy of this pic if it's possible and am willing to pay you for your time. It may be the pic I have posted on the txgenweb sight for Grayson County of the Vaden family. I was told the pic was of her in her graduation dress. Thanks, Will-n-S.TX.
