My families verbal history has us coming from
either Ireland or England but I can't find any records
of our family name and where we come from.

I've traced some records from Godstone Surrey, England of the Waterford's there around 1710 or so.
Anybody have any info on the origins of the family name before then?
I can't find any record of the family name in present day
UK. Must have all gone to the Colonies.

if you look at the 1901 UK census you will see there are 27 male WATERFORDS.

If you know grand or great grand fathers names that may help.

Ann Waterford was my gggggrandmother. Her family came from Limpsfield in Surrey, not far from Godstone, and she lived in Caterham. One of her brothers, William was transported to Australia and later became a grazier there, (and married five times).

I am a descendant of William Waterford brother of Ann Waterford a great grandmother of yours. I live in Australia and his only living descendants are from our immediate family and our second cousins (tight knit group). What do you know of Ann and William's parents? Have they also been from England or is there a link with the county Waterford in Ireland?
