Dottie and Becky,

I am just begining to work on my family tree but there immediatly seems to be certain items that cross over.

My great grandfather William Weinberger (estimate born 1870s) came from Austro-Hungry just before 1900 to Scranton, PA and Married his second cousin Esther. I am told he was a coal miner and a Rabbi. I also belive (but need to check) that he came with some brothers.

There seems to be some overlap in our lineage. (This is my husband's family)....

In the 1880's (approx) Morris and Honey Weinberger emigrated from Hungary to McKeesport, PA. They had seven children in McKeesport....

William - deceased
daughter Carol in OH
Joseph (my husband's grandfather) - deceased
Bess
David - deceased married to Esther(?not sure)
daughter Saundra in AL
Harriet - married to Albert Silverman
kids - David Mark
Primid
Sarah
Gussie
daughter - Joyce

This is all I have so far. My father-in-law was going from his own recollection but I expect to collect more soon.

Please email me at the following:

My great grandfather, Rabbi Moses Weinberger (1854-1940) came to this country in 1880 and lived and worked in NY until 1890 when he received a position as rabbi and av bes din (chief judge) at Congregation Bnai Israel Anshai Unggarin in Scranton, Pa. He was there for a hort time before going to Philadelphia and NY. He came from Kniesen,Zips (Szepes) Hungaary. His father was Rabbi Isachar Baerish Weinberger and came from Zboro' in the region of Sa'ros. Let me know if we are related. Nancy

Hi, I recently found out that my great great mother named Roza weinberger was married to a Rabbi, first name unknown and they were from Zboro. Her maiden name was Silva and she was born about 1850. Her husband's family was full of Jewish scholars. They had a daughter named Fanny ( if others they are not known) and the 2 of them came over to USA about 1900. Wondering if any of your are familiar with my family.
