Florence Wells that I am seeking is the daughter of John Murney Wells and his first wife that I do not know the name of. She married Albert Davis Hieser/Hester in 1924. He was married previously to Susie Bell Clapper in 1911. Florence Gertrude Wells was born in Kansas 31 Oct 1897, moved to Arkansas with the father and step-mother Anne Leona Jones Wells. Then she moved to Oklahoma 1922 again with her parent and half-siblings John, Zella, Fern. She lived her life in Hominy, Oklahoma and raised the children of the first marriage and had several of her own. Any of this sound familiar?

Thank you for your response to my query.

According to the Wells family tree on Rootsweb that I cited in my last message, Haley Wells's parents are named Randolph and Molly. It appears the information comes from the Greensville marriage registers. The compiler (whom you can contact) of this tree lists only two wives for Haley Wells b 1795 and neither is named Rebecca...so are we talking about the same Haley Wells? What are your Haley Well's dates?

I will appreciate being sent anything you run across on Mary A Williams in your Wells research. I hope to learn her lineage, though a surname like Williams will not be an easy search.
Thanks for your response.

I have been researching my family,John Lee. Haley Wells in Greensville county married my GGGGrandmother Rebecca Adams Tinsbloom. She had a daughter named Julia Ann Tinsbloom who married John Lee in Greensville County Va.in 1848.On John and Julia's marriage license it says Rebecca and Haley Wells are her parents. Haley is actually her step father. I haven't found anything with Williams as yet. After John Lee dies, Julia remarries Giles Lester and lives next door to Haley. Do you know who Haley's parents are?

I'm trying to find a death date and parents for James Monroe Wells. He was born 1854 in North Carolina. He married Sarah Catherine Jones. She was born 1867 in North Carolina. They had 5 Children:Leroy(1888-?) Maggie(1891-?) Wilbert Delmer(1895-1969) Evelyn(1897-1973) Edna Belle(1901-1984) In the 1910 Census the children are living with a grandmother. Does anyone know what happened to James and Sarah? All of the children were born in North Carolina. James and Sarah are my 3rd great grandparents. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Update - via the NY State census records for 1855 and 1865 I found Elma who had been listed as Emma and Elmer both male and female in the US census records in Granby, Oswego, NY where she was supposed to be. Here is the family info:

Julius Franklin Mead AKA J. Frank or Frank and Elma married in 1872 Hannibal, Oswego, NY

Elma was the daughter of Franklin (AKA B.F. and Benj. Franklin) Wells and Annis Richardson and sister to, chronologically, Addison, Sophronia, Emma, Anna, Ella and Electa, all born in the 1850 - 1864 time window. Annis was the daughet of Samuel Richardson and sister to Leamon T. (L.T.), Edwin and George.

Franklin was the son of Frederick and Statira ___ and brother to Ruth, Eunice, Electa, Emily, Frederick and Elizabeth (1824 - 1844). Frederick was the son of Solomon Wells and Eunice Wright of MA who moveed to and died in Norwich, Chenango, NY (1810 census, deaths 1817 and 1814, respectivel) and brother to Erastus, Benjamin and maybe Electa (stayed in MA, married Arad Stratton) and Fanny (married and moved to PA with Josiah Furman). Two other sibling possibilities are as yet open. Perhaps Martha (m. Chamberlin) and an unknown brother.

BTW, clear proof that Solomon was not the son of Lemuel Wells/Lydia Scott (though 2 Wright sister married the 2 unrelated Wells) and that Frederick's brother (Eunice's son), Benjamin, was in Oswego married to Harriet Shattuck at the same time as her sister's (Martha Wright) son, Benjamin, was in Norwich married to Huldah Thornton. Both Benjamins were born days apart to make matters more confusing.
Hello,

I saw an old post of yours regarding the Wells family. My husband's g.g. grandfather was John D. Wells b. 21 Nov 1807, Maryland and died 05 May 1871 Byhalia, Union Co., Ohio. He was married to Edna Ann Counterman. I have been trying for years to learn anything about John D. Wells parents. All I have to go on is a posting in the LDS which lists James Wells, as his father and a Susannah Miller, as mother. This information apparently came from an old Wells bible. Are you familiar with this family? According to LDS listing, the couple had at least 11 children. I can only find information on two: John D. and the youngest, Mary Wells Bird. Mary was born in 1829, Ohio and married Albert Bird.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Colleen Wells

Greensville, single, no age given, who married Archer Kidd in Greensville Co, VA 8 Sept 1868. (Greensville Co Marriage Register for the year ending 31 Dec 1868, p 127, line 2).

Julia Wells was born Julia E. Williams in Dinwiddie Co b c. 1826 and married (as his 2nd wife) Haley Wells also of Dinwiddie Co on 27 MAR 1860 in Greensville County, VA.(register 1853-1861, pg. 5.-I have not viewed this marriage cert) This info comes from Rootsweb family tree http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Mary A Williams could be Julia's child by a former marriage, or her younger sister, or some other relative.

Does anyone have any further information on this Wells family after 1860 or the Williams family living in Greensville Co at least between 1843-48? Are they on the 1850 census in Greensville?
Thank you.

I do know he was married to Sarah Hall in 1775 and his mother's name was Ann. That's all I have to this point.
