This message is actually very interesting.
It is my Grandmother Hall who was a cousin of the Younger brothers. She married a HALL! Constantine Edmund Hall of Texas..my father's father. My Grandfather Hall. I do not know if this HALL family is related in some way to the Hall family in MO. who are related to the Younger brother family.

HHer name was Mary Sybil LIEVSAY Hall. Born 04/21/1891. The Leivsay family she came from is related to the Younger brother family. Either by her father or her mother.
I figured out that Robert was the wrong line. John W. Younger are my cousins, great grandpa. It has been proven, through DNA, that my cousins line are not related to the outlaws. Robert line is though.

My couins mother is Devora. Her parents are William and Lettie(Gilligan, or something close to that)Younger.

You could very well be related to them. They live mostly in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Gwen

I'm related to the gang through a John W. Younger but not the same one you might possibly be talking about. No Robert James in my line. Write to Whillman@fuse.net. She has a large database with all the Youngers.
Hi,

I do belive we are related :) My Grandfather was Alfred Younger. He married Gracie Jewell Whatley. They had two daughters, Linda Kay and Velva Joyce. Linda is still alive and has one daughter and two grandchildren. My mother, Joyce, has passed, and has a son, a daughter (me) two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Let me know if you'd like to share trees. I'm just starting on mine, but can provide you with Alfred Youngers tree.

thanks and hope to hear from you,
Annette
Hi Gwen!

The Younger Brothers were "at home" in the Minnesota State Prison in Stillwater, MN. The Washington County Historical Society is now housed in the former Warden's House of that prison. The Younger Brothers are of course well known in Washington County history. You might write to Brent Peterson, Director, at the Washington County Historical Society (e-mail is on their web site) to see if he has any information for you!

Carol Maki; Port Ludlow, WA; formerly of Stillwater, MN

I am looking for information on James Younger (NOT the outlaw). He would have been a young to middle aged man living in Illinois in 1918. He drove a truck for a milk company out of the Chicago area. He would be my grandfather.

I recently saw your post about your Hall ancestor.I do know one of Cole Younger's sisters, Isabella "Belle" Frances Younger married a Richard S.Hall. Richard was born about 1830 in Kentucky and Belle was born in 1833 in Missouri. They had children: Richard A. Hall, Nettie B. Hall, Nora Lee Hall, Minnie Gertrude Hall, Harry Younger Hall,Frank Fulkerson Hall, and Harden Thomas Hall. They lived in Lee's Summit,Jackson Co., MO. I don't know when Richard died, but Belle died on Aug. 8, 1902. Which one of these Hall's do you descend from? I am very interested in learning what was written in the booklet you mentioned. I descend from Joshua Logan Younger's second marriage to Catherine Yoter. The Younger's and Hall's descend from his first marriage to Elizabeth Lee. My email is kdowe3@wi.rr.com I would love to hear from you if you find this message. Kim

I'm not going to say that Dad Young wasn't a member of one of the Younger gang cousins families. Because there are many out there not accounted for to this day. But my great grandmother was one of thier cousins and I have done a lot of research on family lines and I have never come across Dad Young. But we have a DNA project and are learning through DNA about many new cousins. Cole's great grandfather, Joshua Younger came from Kent County, Maryland to Kentucky. And there are many Maryland cousins we know little about. One of my line, John W. Younger went to Delta County, Texas and Cole did have a sister in Fannin County,Texas. He also had some (cousins) relation in Navarro and Henderson County,TX. There's some hope! I myself taught school in San Augustine,TX and took some courses at Stephen F. Austin so I'm familiar with the area.I now live in Tennessee. Good luck!

Hello. I am on a mission to discover information about Jacobs Chapel Cemetery, in Nacogdoches County, Texas. There is a grave marked "Dad Young" rode with the Jesse James Gang. The marker was placed several years after the mans death. The family history is that Dad Young rode into Melrose, Texas, got into some kind of gun fight, was injured, but lived out the rest of his life with a family in this area. I am guessing he dropped the er off of his last name, so not to be identified with the Younger gang?
Can anyone provide information on Dad Young?
I am trying to get the cemetery a Texas Historical Marker and this will just add to the history.
This area was setteled by the Alders, Chisum and Jacobs family. It was the last site of an Indian battle in this area.
I appreciate any information I can get.
Thank you,
Stacy Jacobs, presiden of Jacobs Chapel Cemetery Board

I believe the Dolan Younger you mentioned is one of my ancestors. He had a sister named Dona who was my great grandmother. I have a different name for Dolan's mother though. I show a Cordelia, not Sarah but I'm not sure. If this is the same relative, or you need more info please email me at poohbaker1986@hotmail.com.

Denise

I have a Josie Jameson or Jamerson. My gggrandmother was Minnie (Middleton) Singleton. She raised or adopted her sister Mary's daughter after Mary died in childbirth in Texas. Minnie married Charles Singleton in Arkansas. Josie's biological parents were Mary (Middleton) and J.W. Jameson or Jamerson. Minnie related this story to the family. Mary died in childbirth and Minnie was around 13 years of age and was living with Mary and J.W. at their farm in Texas. There was a farm hand also living there by the name of Archie Miles. After Mary died J.W. said he was going to leave and sell some cattle and that he was going to go to Arkansas to buy a farm. He left and never returned. Minnie is taking care of Josie. Minnie and Archie decide to go to Arkansas and see if J.W. is there thinking maybe he meant for them to meet him there. He's not and they decide to marry. Archie dies soon after marrying and Minnie later marries Charles Singleton. They adopt Josie. Could this possibly be the same Josie?

New Younger DNA Testing Opportunity

I wanted to do two things relative to DNA and genealogy.

I want to make sure all of you know that we do have a Younger DNA project at www.familytreedna.com/public/Younger where Younger men can test to see which Younger families they match. We've had a great deal of success sorting the varios families, but we have run across some unexpected finds, which leads me to the second item.

Second, I want to let you know about a new autosomal DNA testing opportunity. You can see the info here on the blog:
http://the-lost-colony.blogspot.com/2009/09/new-23andme-auto...

This may be very revealing for those of us whose lines did not produce the DNA that we expected. I have tested and I hope that others with the various family lines will as well.

Roberta Estes
Younger Family DNA Project Co-Administrator (volunteer)
robertajestes@att.net

I am not sure if this will help, but I found a Benitta Younger in the 1900 census. Her father was Robert Younger and they lived on a reservation, Cherokee Nation Indian Teritory.

If you give as much information as you know, we might be able to help a little more. When was she born/where and do you know of any siblings? These few thing could probably get me to the right family for you.

My grandmother Bernita Wheeler (Younger) is related to the Younger family who officially had their name changed to Wheeler because of the family scandal. She passed away years ago but had the name change form-document. Do you know what kind of records I could look that up at? I have no idea where to look. I'm wondering which Younger I'm related to. There are a lot of siblings!

I have an Olivia Younger in my family tree. She was married to my uncle, William Clifton Morgan and I believe they had a son William Richard "Billy" Morgan. My uncle was born in Uniontown,KY, but lived most of his life in San Fransisco. I am interested in finding my cousin Billy, or at least figuring out if I have the ancestry correct. My uncle had three wives, the others were Margaret (maiden name unkn)and Juanita Bedflower. I am pretty sure Billy was Olivia's son, but am not sure. She married my great uncle Thomas McCorgary and little is known of her family. Her family is related to the Ganster group " The Younger Brothers", they are cousins. I have not been able to find the connection though. I have two possible grandfathers for Devora, John Wesley Younger or Robert James Younger.
This Younger family is very confusing! OK, I am looking for Charles S Younger born 1841 Missouri, married Sarah Ann Tate, 1879, Grant county, Oregon. I have found alot of sites that say he married sarah then married Lena Galbraith in Linn County 1885. Only problem is according to the 1900 Census that paticular Charles C Younger (who married Lena) was born in 1864 Tennessee!(Have seen him as Charles H Younger also).
SO, where is my Charles S Younger, married Sarah Ann Tate, and had a daughter, sarah ann Younger born 1880 Oregon?
Thanks
Ginger

This is my first check into this site. I have been begun investigating both sides of my family history.
My grandmother, Mary Sybil Leivasy Hall - my father's side of the family - his mother; she wrote a family history in her own hand....She said the Younger brothers were her cousins. Currently my mother is in possession of this biography.
Her husband was Constantine Edmund Hall. He had a brother named Ollie Hall.
Her children are:
Opal Hall Thomas (my aunt) (deceased)
Finis Constantine Hall (my father) deceased 11/26/1966
Frances Hall Robinson (daughter and my aunt) - (deceased)
Robert Hall (died at the age of 18 - heart defect - while playing basket ball, and my uncle - never met)
My father's death preceeded my grandmother's. He was only 52. Fatal heart attack. He is buried at Ft. Bliss Military Cemetary in El Paso, Texas.
My father was married to Dorothy Willene Squyres (born in Wellington, Texas), daughter of William Marcus Squyres (Baptist minister) and Jewel Nipper Squyres. My great-grandfather (my mother's grandfather) was Charles Wayman Squyres (C.W.). He lived well into his late 90s and is buried in Lawton Oklahoma. He was a Baptist minister.

In "Dodge City" - there is a wax museum that has a wax figure of James Younger. I visited there, and it was a weird feeling to look upon the face and figure of one of my descendants; an wild west outlaw no less.

Gina Elaine Hall Fowler - of Austin, Texas, formally El Paso, TX, and all over the place before that--my father, Finis was career military and we traveled a lot.

Sarah Ann Younger is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City Kansas. She is my former wife Great Great Great Grandmother. Cheryl Renee Fowler Snider, Cheryl passed away in 2 Nov 2001 of lung cancer. We had 3 children together, we had always known of the ties to the Younger. Relatives of hers passed the Younger name down by using it as a middle name. But I have traced it for her so our children have the knowledge of there past. Another find was Thomas Younger Baird who owned the Kansas City Monarchs, a decendant of Sarah.

Charles Younger was the grandfather of Cole, Jim and Bob Younger. Their father, Henry Washington Younger was Charles's son. The 2 children of the mulatto slave mistress named Elizabeth Simpson would be Henry's 1/2 brother and sister. Their names were Simpson (went by Sim) and Catherine. Catherine married a man named Speed Warren and Sim married first to Grace Carter and then Florence Higgerson. Charles freed Elizabeth and his children by her in his will. He also left her 40 acres of land in St. Clair Co., MO. and he had a codicil in his will that his children upon his death be known as Younger's. The executor of will was also instructed to take the kids to a free state and place them in a respectable school until 12 yrs of age and then they were to be placed in an academy or "college of high grade, where each may receive a thorough classical education." The estate paid for all expenses. Sim attended Oberlin College in Ohio.

Hi Judith,

In my posting, in never mentioned when William and Lettie married, as i don't know for sure. It was the person who relied to me that said that. The year 1883 is when Lettie was born, not when they married. I estimate the marriage took place about 1904, since my great aunt was born in 1905.

Thanks for checking the facts though, so many people don't.
Gwen

Your reference to William James Younger states that he was born April 1876 and married to Lettie Elizabeth Gilligan ABT 1883. This information is defective because he would have only been SEVEN YEARS OLD @ marriage!

I am researching the YOUNGER tree as I am the widow of MELVIN EUGENE YOUNGER (born Missouri/deceased Nashville, Tenn)and mother of DOUGLAS EUGENE YOUNGER (born 1974)

They lived first in Brownsville and later in the eastern side of the state in Heppner, Hermiston, John Day, Canyon City and Baker. I know I have collected this Younger's information.
Joel Younger - Tuck

I am trying to find any information on Azariah Tuck. Joel Younger was the guardian for Craddock Tuck’s family when he died Feb. 1821, in Halifax Co. VA. He left three children who were Isham, Permelia, & Azariah Tuck and a set of twins not born until after his death. The twins were John Craddock Tuck and Nancy A. L. Tuck born April 1 1821.

We have good information on his guardianship of the children and have traced all of the children except for Azariah. The last definite information we have is: “Joel Younger, guardian of Azariah Tuck by order of the Halifax Court, apprentices Azariah Tuck, age (?17?), on 8 May 1834, to John A. Harris until his, Tuck, coming of age. John A. Harris will be his master.”

Tuck family lour said that three brothers came to Weakley Co. TN. this was about 1836-1840?

Although Joel Younger did not migrate to Weakley Co., I have found it interesting that his sister (Nancy Younger Carlton) and her family did move there. Isham Tuck seemed to have been in Weakley Co. by ca 1836. Nancy Younger Carlton's family was there by 1848. It is also interesting that Joel Younger's daughter, Harriet Ann Frances Younger also married a Carlton [Robert Hart Carlton]. I have researched these families to try to find out if there was any connection to Joel Younger being guardian for Isham Tuck and Isham's ending up in Weakley Co. I haven't found any direct link. The only connections I have found was that back in Halifax VA they all lived in the same area, bought and sold land etc. but no family connection.

Any help would be appreciated
J. Richard Tuck, Jr.
jrtorlando@msn.com

I too am a descendant of Cole's. I have never been able to find the connection though, as my great aunt Devora would never speak of Cole's family or the connection to them. She only said she was related. We figured out that she is either the niece or cousin to Cole.
Devora's parents were William H. YOunger and Lettie/Lydia Gillian. Devora had a younger sister named Emma, who never married. This is all I know about them.
I was wondering if you could give a little more information on Olivia, such as when and where she was born, if you have any. It might give me another place to look for answers.

Thanks, Gwen Jackson-Patterson
