My grandfather was Peter Ghidossi. He died in about 1943 from T.B. He was the son of Equildo and Angelina Ghidossi. He came to America in 1892 from Northern Italy. Do you have any information on this man.

Thankyou Mr. Patrizo Ghidossi for your reply. I did not know the Ghisossi family came from Lumino. My great grandfather was Equldo Ghidossi. My grandfather was Peter Ghidossi. I did not get to know them as they died shortly after I was born.
My mother was Aileen Ghidossi, the only child of Peter. She told me very little of the family history. Any information you can give me will be appreciated.

Hi,
Out of the 13 that are on the official document from the town of Lumino, Switzerland only 7 survived to be adults. Its sad, some were just a few months or even 1 years old when they died, I dont know of what. The ones that became adults I was lucky to know, they were my aunts and uncles. I´m going to scan the document and see if I can attach the file to this note. If you speak a little italian you can see that the women married and aquired other last names. My father was Livio Virgilio Ghidossi....we always just said Gilio. ANy other information feel free to ask me...I´ve been many times to the small town of Lumino and I keep contact with a couple cousins by email. I also know that my father had at least one child that no one was supposed to know about. Anyway, I hope this has been informative.

Thank you for the information on your father, aunts and uncles. I wouldn't be suprised if we arn't related in some way. My great grandfather was Equildo Ghidossi and my grandfather was Peter Ghidossi. My mother's name was Aileen Ruby Ghidossi. I am going to Italy in March. I am with a tour so it is unlikely I will go to Lumino. I am excited to see Italy though. I have a son named Paul, a good Itilian name.

So were you able to open and look at the document? On the other side were the names of my grandparents and it said his father´s name was Pietro Ghidossi.(that would be my great grandfather)...which could be translated to Peter. What I could try and find out is who were the brothers of my grandfather....I´ll bet one of them could actually be your grandfather. I´ll see if one of my cousins could go to the city hall there and ask....you never know. Meanwhile I´ll see if I have a postcard of Lumino...its such a nice town at the base of a mountain and part of a valley with the river going through it. If ever you go there I can tell you some paces to visit. I have so many good memories of Switzerland. THe last time I was there was on my honeymoon in 1994....now my goal will be to bring my 3 daughters.
Take care

My great grandfather was Pio Ghidossi they called him Pete. His wife was Angelina. My grandfather was Emil and my dad is Paul. Pio came from Switzerland with his mother at the age of twelve. They came to California and ended up in the Antioch area. Pio died sometime close to your grandfather Peter. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

The ghidossi families originated in Milan and the name was originally Guidos in the12th century and evolved over time to it's present form. The Ghidossi name came from Lumino, Switzerland. And all Ghidossi families are distant cousins. I have a family tree. Back to the 16th century as a result of several visits there to visit current. Descendants. if you want more info con tat me by e-mail or by phone in Wyoming #307-637--7292. it would be fun to hear from you.
