Hi,

I'm looking for any information on the Klofkorn line in the midwest, or anywhere really. Any Klofkorns out there? I am the great granddaughter of Martin Albert John Klofkorn born Apr 1884 in Kansas and died in 1926.
Thanks,
Kristine

Hi Kristine, I'm the daughter of Verla Jean Klofkorn, the daughter of Verle Klofkorn (and Ruth Elizabeth (Roche) Klofkorn) who has lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri (Springfield, Willow Springs - death records show he died in Howell, MO. I have looked up his info before, and have seen the "Albert John" name come up. Verla married James Dickinson who she met up in Michigan State University. She had 2 children by him, myself and my brother. She then divorced him. I'm sure my brother has more info reqarding the Klofkorn name; I will give him a call. It is a unique name, not many to be found. I live in Richland, WA (Tri-Cities), born in Sacramento, CA in 1960. I am a registered nurse. Verla died when I was seven y.o, in 1968 in Loomis, CA. Under the marriage certif (public records) I noticed they spelled her first name wrong (Vella), she remarried to James H. Pitts. Anyways, any info you have would be great. It would be great if we were related. Please respond, I just started this. I have 2 children, Jason David, 24 y.o. et Amy Elizabeth, 21 y.o. My brother Mike Verle Dickinson is married and has 3 children. He lives in Bremerton, WA. Write back to me as I would also like to know more of my heritage. Do you have info on my grandfather, Verle Klofkorn (Verla's dad) and his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Roche (maiden). My name is Lisa Montague (Lisa Ruth Dickinson - Montague)

Kristine,

I believe our great grandfathers name is Albert Martin John Klofkorn, and born Sept 5, 1890, and a deceased date of 1926, after looking up info for my family tree. If you look in the military history while doing your family tree in Ancestory.com, you will find his registry records for the military draft of 1917-1918, it shows a BD of 09/05/1890; as well as another record I discovered which showed the same BD and same deceased date of 1926, as well as info that he is buried at the Blackwell Cementary in OK. Out of curiosity, how did you come upon looking for my mother Verla Klofkorn? Also, where did you find info on my grandfather Verle Klofkorn (William Verle)? I noticed you mentioned he used his middle name "Verle" more frequently than William. Where did you get that info? Also, a few years ago, my brother mentioned grandpa (Verle) had a brother in Reno or Las Vegas that was a chef. Is this your dad? Or maybe my memory is off a bit. Anyways, I'm exhausted from looking up info, I started out as just curious; now I've manage to start a family tree. Glad I found you message board. Take care, Lisa...

Hi, I am the granddaughter of the late Alfred Artur James Kloefkorn (used to be spelt Klöfkorn, but my Opa and Oma changed it when they immigrated to America in 1954). My Opa was born in Cologne Germany, but there was talk of the family name actually being Swedish. Then of course family legend says that our ancestors came down from Sweden to protect Martin Luther from the Catholic Church, but personally I think that is just wishful thinking.
Obviously our surname ties are distant, I don't have family in Kansas. But I was wondering if your family came from Germany or Sweden and what you had heard of the origin of our ancestors?
Thanks, Caroline
