Searching for information on a LAPIN (or variant spellings of LAPPIN or LAPINSKI or whatever) that may have lived in Webster, Day County, SD around 1890 and perhaps later in Lawrence County, SD. Also consider Anna Rose LAPIN born abt 11/5/1883 SD and died as Anna Rose FARRAGUT on 8/30/1941 in Los Angeles, California.

We are deep into researching our Lappin roots and understand there are many in Australia. Do you know any of your history? We have Williams and Henry's, but in the 1800's. G'day!

Sandy, There are indeed lots of Australian Lappins - I'm one (maiden name Lappin). Most are centred around the Chiltern area in Victoria and arrived in the 1800s when gold was discovered in the region. They seem to have been prolific. My father was the youngest of 14 children in his part of the family. One of his grandfather's brothers had 9 children - all boys. My sister is the genealogy nut, and I'm sure she has lots more detailed information. She probably hadn't come across your note since it seemed to have been filed under Surnames/Lapin and not Lappin.

Hi Lyn,
How nice to hear from you! Please do connect me with your sister, as I'd love to share this branch of our family with the Lappins over here.
Sandy

Hello, my grandfather was a lapin. He was also born in Russia, then migrated to Persia and died there in his 30's. I might have some information. My grandfather was Fred Lapin who married Evdokia Konovaloff. Natasha
