Surnames: Malcomson, Macdonald, Moore
My great great grandfather was Alexander Macdonald, farmer of Ballymoney. It is not know if he was born in Ireland or Scotland.

He married Jane Malcomson, and they had a son H. (Henry?) Wilgar Macdonald, born in County Down, Northern Ireland in 1867. Jane is believed to have been his second wife.
My great grandmother was Sophia Macdonald (1843-1893) who married William Moore (1827-1910), in Presbyterian Church, Belfast, 31st January, 1863. It is believed that she was the daughter of Jane Malcomson because she named one of her daughter's Jane.

H. Wilgar Macdonald, son of Jane Malcomson and Alexander Macdonald, studied Medicine in 1888 in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland. He returned to County Down, Northern Ireland and resided in Newtownards.

Another known brother, was James Alexander Macdonald, born circa 1848, died 1928. He resided at Glenford Place, Newtownards, County Down. He studied Medicine at Queens College, Belfast and was honoured for his sporting abilities (thought to have played Lacrosse). He represented Ireland 14 times against Scotland, between 1875 and 1884. After qualifying in Medicine, he settled in Taunton (Somerset) England and was attached to the staff of the County Hospital. He was Chairman of the British Medical Association and his address in Taunton was 19 East Street.

Their father, Alexander Macdonald's sister, is believed to have been Jane Macdonald, who married Isaac Moore of Ballymoney and their son Isaac Moore was born there in 1818.

Any information regarding these families would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

After some more research I have discovered that I am not, in fact, descended from William McGarry and Rebecca Boston
Rebecca and William had a daughter Elizabeth, but I am decended from another Elizabeth born 3 years earler.
She was the daughter of a Michael McGarry and Elizabeth Creegan originally of Longford in Ireland.

Please contact me at hillemarg@aol.com re Michael McGarry living in Frenchpark in 1836. I think I found a record that he came to Australia in 1847. I am not related but my gggrandfather, Patrick Cullen was a neighbour in Frenchpark in 1836 and I have an interesting story to tell you.

Many thanks

I am interested in learning more about my G Grandfather David Malcolmson. The 1841 census has him married with several children in Barrow, born about 1800 in Ireland. He died in 1857. He was a Millwright.
