Hi Kim,
My wife's family are the Schuenke's from Fairbault Minnesota. Fredrick Schuenke and his 10 children all came from Pommern Germany. He has sons named Ferdinand and August. If this sounds like a possible match let me know.

Hi Steve: I'm not sure if it is the same line or not. I really don't have much info on that side of the family. My immediate family from that line is all deceased. Do any of the birthdates seem to correlate? I know Carl Schuenke died in Antioch, IL, but lived for many years in Chicago. Lydia married Otto Lilliwitz in Chicago, Il.
Martha Zoellick who was married to Charles died in Chicago. So there must be some connection to the Chicago area, but I don't know if any went to the MN area.

Hi Kim,
I not sure if there is a connection or not. If there is it maybe back in Pommern Germany.
Fredick and Sophia Schuenke had 10 children, I think most were born in Pommern Germany.
The came to America and I believe some what directly to Fairbault Minnesota. August Schuenke who is my wife's great-grandfather and son of Fredrick and Sophia was born in May of 1860. So they would be at least a Generation or two ahead of you g-grandfather.

Schuenke/Schuenke

I have been researching the Schuenke/Schinke surname for about 10 years. I probably have more family tree information on the Fredrich & Sophia Schuenke family than anyone. The families that I know about are the Schuenke's that lived in, or near, Faribault, Minnesota. I also know quite a bit about the other members of this family who lived, and still live, in the Clintonville/Appleton area of Wisconsin and spell their name as Schinke. My wife is the daughter of Frank Schuenke who lived in Faribault, Minnesota. Her grandfather was Ferdinand Schuenke and her great grandparents were Fredrich and Sophia Schuenke, or Schinke. My E-mail address is mjd1998@aol.com

I have the Schuenke name in my background, also. My gr. gr. grandmother, Caroline Dallmann Schuenke, came to Waseca Co. as a widow with 5 children in 1884. She had a brother, William Dallmann (Dahlmann)living in Alton twp. In the March 29,1912 obituary in the "New Richland Star" she is called Mrs. Ferdinand Schinke. I have always wondered if there is some connection to the Rice Co. Schuenke family. Caroline and family immigrated from Schoeneberg/ Driesen/ Friedeberg/ Brandenburg. Do you have any knowledge of this family or is it just a coincidence that they end up living in close to each other.

Hi there.... I was just wondering if you could possibly make a connection. My great grandmother anna was born to a couple in minnesota... whereabouts unknown. Her last name is Westrich. Born in 1889. later in 1894 they had another child by the name of Nicholas. The mother died giving childbirth to this child and the father gave the children to another family. It is unknown who the mother or father is to this day. I recently found a copy of my great grandmother's death cert. and the mother's maiden name said schuenke. I know for a fact that she was born here too so I dont know if there is any connection between my family and your s but I sure hope you could maybe help me. Please if you know of anything that I could do to find the info or if you have a connection that is great! Let me know!
Tara
