I have been searching for years to get the true family tree put together and have come up to several dead ends but I did find some sernames that all tied up to "Zuraff" in the early 1700s and I would like as much info you can give "Zuraski" Zuraw" "Heimbecker" Heimbuecher" thanks....

I have some information on the Zuraw/Zuraff family in Iowa and South Dakota. I have found the ships passenger list for Thomas and Mary Zuraw and their family in 1854 when they came to this country. I would be interested in exchanging information if you are interested.

Carolyn : I am Dorothy's sister , I know you use to work together. I have gotten some information from Connie my niece. I really have nothing on the Third generation.
I can only go back to Old Conrad Heimbecker {my Grand Father.} I cannot find naturalization papers or citizenship on him,, if I could do that I could contact Ellen Heimbecker for she has five different Heimbeckers history, in Germany.

Teresa: Hope you haven't given up. My mother was Vivian Heimbecker/Zuraff from Bridgewater, S.D. Her dad was Fred Constantine and his father was Thomas Zuraff. I live in Iowa and getting ready to take a trip to Bennington Township near Waterloo, IA this summer to locate the cemetary he is buried in. I would imagine that I will find Mary's (his wife) gravesite as well. I know that when Mary died he went to live with his dauther Anna Zuraff Biller.
I have replied to a posting on this site to Carolyn Kneisel in MN who is searching for info on Cornelius Zuraff.
Hope to hear from you.

I stumbled across your post here. I'm also a Zuraff originally from Bismarck, ND now living in Minneapolis MN. My grandmother did some research on the family tree before she died. The names in the original post sound familiar to me (Zuraski) as our original last name. Our last name was changed to Zuraff when ancestors moved to the US. My Grandfather was Henry Zuraff and lived in Sterling, ND. I will have to ask my brother to see if he still has that information from my grandmother’s search. I know we have relatives from SD that are Zuraff's, but I’m not sure if they spell it with Zuraff or Zureff.

Hi! I am a Zuraff on my maternal side. My mother was born in Bridgewater, South Dakota. Her parents names were Fred Zuraff and Mary Heimbecker. He had several brothers and their families live in the Sioux Falls, S.D. area. I live in northwest Iowa. We are probably related. If you want more info I'd be happy to share. Great grandfather was from Cammin, Prussia and immigrated in 1842 to eastern Iowa. He is buried in Bennington Township, Iowa near Waterloo. The town is now called Kamien and lies right on the German/Polish border.
