My maternal grandfather's last name was Calandra. He was born in Independance, Louisana in 1906. Soon after that his parent moved the family back to Sicily. At about the age of 16, he and his brother Anthony came back to the states via NYC. Both of them made their homes in Rome, NY. They then sent for most of the rest of the family. Additional siblings: Salvatore, Peter, Anna, Frank, Beatrice, Frances. Rosa stayed in Sicily. Beatrice, Frank and Frances moved to Niagara Falls, NY.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: Geremia - Calandra
Looking for information on a Calogera Calandra who married a Pellegrino Geremia. I only havve information on one of their children Salvatore (8/19/1895) this is my great-grandfather. He arrived on Ellis Island July 7, 1911. It is indicated that he was going to stay with a brother (Giovanni ?, uncertain if this is the correct name).

Any connections or help would be most gratetfully appreciated.

There is a possibility. I do know that Salvatore (my Gr-Grandfather) went to live with a brother that came to Ellis several years before. The brother's name could be giovanni however this could have been changed at some time during his immigration.

Surnames: Geremia
We may be related. Biagio Geremia was married to Frances (unknown last name) and arrived from Italy to New York. They had 8 children Peter (Who has always been called Pelligrino his whole life) born in 1913, Julia born in 1911, Anna born in 1914, Dominick born in 1916, Pauline born in 1918, Morie born in 1921, Elvira born in 1926 and Antoinette born in 1929. From Peter (Pelligrino) married Jennie Bua. They had 3 sons, Joseph born in the 1940s, and twin boys, Peter and Gary born in 1950.
I have not been able to find the parents of Biagio, but it is possible that Pelligrino and Callogera are the parents of Biagio. I know Biagio had siblings, but I don't know their names. I would be interesting to find out if Salvator was one of them. If that is the case, I can give you the whole line from that point down on Pete (Pelligrino's) side.
This should be helpful to you too "intruth". See my family tree entitled "Weidmann-Alwine Tree" It has all the Geremia lines in there if you follow from Kurt Geremia

Hi - I was married to Anthony Calandra who was from Rome NY originally. He moved to Utica where we met. His father was John and mother Grace DeSantis. His father ran a shoerepair shop on Dominick St until he died. His mother was a teacher. we married in 1971. There were relatives in Rome -- Yolanda is a name I recall. Hope this helps. Good luck. Rita

Hi Donna

My grandfather's name was Salvatore, and I know from my mother that we have relatives in the US. Wondering if we are related.
