I am searching for Heinrich Dose born December 7, 1829 in Schlewig-Holstein Germany. He married Dorothea Johnson born March 29, 1829 also in Schlewig-Holstein. They came to the U.S. and farmed in Arcadia, Iowa. Heinrich died October 20, 1907, Dorothea died July 20, 1902. They are buried in the Arcadia Cemetery.

They had 7 children: Peter 1855-1922, Claus 1857-1940, Antje Sophie 1860-1914, Detlef 1863-1907, John 1868-1954, William 1869-1942, Fritz (no dates or information-he stayed in Germany.

Would like to share information with anyone who can help.

Hello,
Do you have any history on the DOSE family from Holstein? I am researching my husbands family name from that exact area/city. My ancestors name was Henry Charles DOSE born in 1868 in Schlewig-Holstein Germany. I do not have his parents names or when he came over to the USA. But I am wondering if all the DOSEs from that area are kin? And were they of german descent or and Jewish possibilities? Thankyou.

Correcting mistake on Henrys birth year.

Hello, I put the wrong birth year for henry Charles DOSE. His birth year was 1849. I was looking at his sons Harry birth year and wrote that by mistake. Thanks!

I have many Doses in my tree and only one Henry so far. His birthdate was 1893 and he died at birth. I have many more Doses that I haven't found yet, so it is possible that your's is related to mine. I haven't worked on the Dose line for a long time. Do you have anymore Dose names you could share with me so I can check and see if I have them in my line?

Just returned from the Giekau Family History Fair in Emerson, NE. My ancestors spelled the last name in many ways--Dose, Doose, Dohse, Dosen (females), etc. Check out the web site for the fair at http://www.giekau.com There will be another one in June or July 2008 in northwest Iowa. Two years ago it was held in Mineola, IA. Many people in both areas had ancestors from the Giekau area.

Henry = Heinrich = Hinrich

My mother was a Dose. I have the full family tree, altho the german connections are just coming to light. My great grandfather was Hinrich Frederich Dose, born in Hamburg on 14/2/1834, his mother was Maria Jurgens. His st and epbrother Fritz Heinrich Dose was born 31/3/1851 to Detlev Hinrich and Dorothea Juergens. Fritz came to Australia in 1876. In Australia my great-grandfather was registered as just Henry Dose. I have lots of photos. On facebook there is a page I opened called "Dose/Wardrop Clan", wardrop being my gran's maiden name.
