Dear Carolyn, I am a Cramblit descending from William Elsworth Cramblit. I have before me part of my 'family tree'. Many Cramblits originated in Ohio, particularly Vinton County. On my 'tree' we have two 'Mary's', as far as I can tell. Both descend from John Cramblit, my g.great grandfather. There is a website on myfamily.com called Cramblett Cousins. It contains a wealth of information on the Cramblits of all spellings, they have been a great help to me. The person to contact is Lisa Porter-Burt. She has been a great help to me and will be to you, as well.
I do not have exact marriage dates in order to tell if your Mary is the same as ours, but I'm sure Lisa will be able to help you. Let me know how it turns out. Lisa is finding more Cramblits every day.
Sincerely Shirley (Cramblit) Salinas

Dear Carolyn,
I have sent a message to Lisa Porter-Burt. She should be contacting you via this message board. I am a member of 'Cramblit Cousins' so I have a password to enter the site. It is a secure site. I'm sorry, I have forgotten how I got in touch with Lisa, or if she contacted me. I have been a member for about a year now. I can't give you her address but I'm sure she will respond. She is always finding new Cramblit 'cousins' and she will make you feel welcome. I only have three Mary's on my family tree. Each descend from John Cramblit and Nancy Ellen. One Mary is a daughter of John & Nancy and there are two that are their granddaughters. Lisa will have more information and may connect your Mary to our descendants. I'd appreciate it if you would let me know how it turns out. Also, if Lisa should not respond drop me a line. I have not used a computer for very long so I am not sure whether I can add my address to this message or not, but I don't think so. Good Luck,
Shirley Salinas

Shirley,

I hope that you are still researching. Is it possible that the Cramblit group that you were referring to could be connected with the family that I am looking for? My ancestors goes back to a Hurpy Cramblit of Maryland and ended with a Mariah or Maria Cramblit of Hocking County, Ohio. She married an Edward Duffy in 1866.

Hi Ruth,

I think that we are of the same line. My connection goes with the son of Edward Duffy and Mariah P. Cramblit, Samuel S. Duffy. He married Lillia A. McCormick in Vinton County, Ohio Have you found any information on the wife of Samuel Cramblit, Elizabeth Carpenter?

Hello Vicky, Glad to aquire another cousin!!!! The other person I mention is Sherry Drenning that is also in our line...will have to look up just how, but she is a cousin too..her e-mail is sdrenning2570@wowway.com. Can't have too many cousins ;o] !!

All the info I have on Mary Elizabeth Alender Carpenter is that she was born 1818 in Guernsey, Ohio and died 3/3/1889 in Jackson County, Ohio and that she was possibley Delaware/Lenape or even Nanticoke/Munsee. Apparently there was a settlement of native americans there of more than one tribe lineage. I have e-mailed someone who may have more info and if so, I will surely pass it on to you too.
