My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was Francis Marion Strawn. He married Martha E. Thomason. Their daughter Sarah Emily Strawn (married James Avery Payne) was my Grandmother's Mother. I don't know the state origin of the Strawn's, but it could very well have been Tn or Ak. James Avery and his family immigrated to the Oklahoma Territories in the mid 1800's from Arkansas. They had eleven children. Their eldest, Eugenie Florance Payne, was my Grandmother. She was born in Arkansas.

Francis Marion Strawn was the son of Absolom Strawn and Susan Steen Strawn. He was born in 1840, in GA, and was an older brother to Perry Ss. Strawn, who is my ancestor. I have been trying to learn more of Susan Steen Strawn, but have been unable to get any information on her family. Can you help. The oldest siblin of the family was James B. Strawnsd, and I feel that Absolom was the son of the James Strawn of Fayette County, GA, who was promanent in politics, where he was a State Representative and a Judge. Can you add to my knowledge of this family. Thanks.

Hi Henry, Sorry I am unable to give you much information beyond Ablosom, who is my Great, Great, Great Grandfather. However, I have just discovered Judy Breedlove (or, should I say Judy discovered me), and she seems to be a wealth of information. Hope she reads your message, and gets back to you. I am very interested in anything beyond Absolom and Susan (either side). Nice to meet you, and please send me your E-MAIL address so that we may correspond directly with our discoveries. Dear Maggi,
Hello. My name is Michelle Gaddy I am from Oklahoma. I have just started lookin to find my ancestry. I was really pleased to see your message and that you may have some of the information that I have been looking so hard for. All I have on Absalom is that he was born about 1805 in Jackson Co., GA and his Wife Susan Steel or Steen, we are not sure witch, was born about 1815 in GA. He would have been my great-great-great grandfather. I am not sure on all this information. I would be thankful for anything you could give me on it.
Thank you, Michelle

Absolom Strawn is my Great Great Great Grandfather. He is the son of James B. and Martha Awtrey Strawn (himself son of Richard Strwan), and the brother of Hiram.

Absolom and Susannah (Susan) Streen had eight children: James B, Martha A (married Seaborn Vining Abercrombie), Francis Marion (married Martha Emily Thomason), Emily A. Perry S, Charles A, William and Mary.

Francis Marion and Martha in turn had nine childres: Georgia Ann, John Marion, Susan Catherine, Sarah Emily (married James Avery Payne), James William, Nancy Poole, Charles Austin, Methora Ozora and Minnie Elizabeth.

James Avery (son of Abner and Temperance Elizabeth Largent Payne) and Sarah Emily Strawn Payne are my Great Grandparents, they had 11 children of which one was Eugenia Florance Payne, who married Fred Thomas Milligan, and had three children. My mother Jewell Amanda Milligan, was youngest child.

I have been working with Judy Breedlove, she is decended from Hiram, in working out rough spots in our family tree. We are both discovering (or uncovering, as the case might be) new and interesting stuff every day.

Plese let me know what you are interested in inparticular, and maybe our research can turn you in the right direction.

I am trying to connect the Montgomery Co. AR line to my Strawn line from Chatham Co. NC. I feel sure there is a connection as Balaam Strawn is found in same court record in Giles Co. TN in early 1800s. I do have some info on the Montgomery Co. AR group which you probably already have, but would be happy to exchange.

To Ruth Browning: I show that he and Mary were married approximately 1835. I also have his father as Fielding Straughn from NC and his mother Savina Straughn from NC. I found this on the NC census. What is the court record you found? What is your Email address?
