Hello:
My ancestors have inhabited mainly Wabash, IN and Chicago, IL. I have a consrtucted a tree dating back to Henry Geibel (believed to be the 6th) of Waldgreweiler Canton Rochenhausen, Germany born in 1818. Who immigrated to the US with his son, Henry Justice (7th?), and settling in Logansport, IN. I have copies of a letter written in 1915 that talks the line of Henry Geibel's but there has be no verification of this.. anyone having any information on this line of Geibels or their spouses and offspring, please reply!

Hello,
I encountered your posting while doing a search for "Waldgreweiler".
According to information that was given to my mother about her grandmother's grandparents, they were Henry Geible, who was born in Canton Rokenhausen (Rochenhausen?), Waldgreweiler. His wife's maiden name was Elisabeth Glaser. My mother's father and mother, Charles and Ruthanna Schlemmer, lived in Indiana where he was a pastor in the Evangelical United Brethern Church. My mother was born in Wabash.
I have just gotten this paper, and have not quite figured out all the intertwined relationships it lists, and it is a very bad mimeographed copy. But if you are interested, I will retype it and send it to you, either by fax or mail.
I was astounded to see your posting (the only hit in my search), as it corresponds so well with my info!

I live near San Francisco.

Sincerely, Sally (Sexton) Wetherby

Iam replying to the original message of 30 November, 2000, which was written by my son, Jim. He no longer has access to the email address from which that was posted, my email is and will remain current.

In regard to our mutual Geibel/Geibel/Giebel roots in Waldgreweiler, Caton Rockinghausen .... this is located in the Rhineland - Palatinate state in Germany. Just north of Kaiserslautern and northwest of Mannheim and Heidelberg.

I also come from the Wabash, IN Geible family. I was born there, as was my father, Merrell (also an EUB Pastor prior to merger with the Methodist church). I may have some more recent material my dad assembled some years before his death, if you're interested. It will take some time to pull together.

My father was Merrell Geible, born in Wabash, IN 6/10/1922. His father was Fred Geible [d. 1924]. Dad had done some geneology research in the 1970's and came up with the same ancestral lineage as you mention, starting with Henry. If I can find it, I'll contact you. Dad had a brother (Harry) who died earlier this year in Florida. His sister Frieda Anderson is still living in Indiana. I can remember an Aunt Belle, who lived in the Chicago area in the 1950s when I was a boy, and a cousin of Dad's named Streicker (Streicher?) I met once when still pretty young. He was an Army officer at that time. Sorry, but that's all I can remember without help. Found your message, and wanted to reply right away. I'm just starting.

Good day! I am just two days into my seach and already am thrilled to find so much information. My name is Gretchen and my Great Great Grandmother was Nellie Geible. Sister of Fred Geible Jr.(1894-1924?). Daughter of Fred Geible Sr.(1858-?) and Mary J Geible (1859-?) I have heard talk of Aunt Belle from My Dad, Richard (Rick(y)) McArthur. I think she was well liked. I have found info on Where Fred and Nellie (Geible) McArthur Lived when my grandfather (George McArthur) was a boy.

I also found Fred Geible Jr's Draft card. But like I said, I am just getting started. If anyone has any more information on this family line, either the McArthurs or the Geibles I would apprectiate a note or two. Thanks and good hunting!
