I have a painting done in pencil by J.R. Wehle titled Jesus and his followers in the wheat field dated 1900. It appears to be original. The reason for this message is due to what I've seen conserning the same painting title dated 1930 on this site. Just wondering if I do have the original of said painting or a print. Please respond thank you Jesse.

I saw a painting by J.R. Wehle 1900 as described in a B&B in Port Dover Ontario. I was wondering if there were any prints of this painting. It was a wonderful painting.

I was given a painting by J.R.Wehle; when i was stationed in Germany in 1969. I was curious about it to see if it is an original; or if there is any value to it as an antique.
It does appear to be a painting and not a copy. The painting is of Christ in a wheat field.

If you have any information at all please reply

Thank you
D.B

I also have a picture of Jesus and his apostles walking thru a field of wheat with a beautiful frame around it. There appears to be some paint adhering to the inside of the glass, making us wonder if it is an actual painting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I've been able to find is that I have a print that may have been printed somewhere around 1930-36. One way you can find out is to look for any pencil imprint on the paper itself, other wise it can be a print too. Mine was apraised at $156.00. That's all I can tell you; thanks Jesse.

I recently found a litho of Wehle's work entitled "And it Came to Pass". It's a picture of the disciples and Mary carrying Jesus from the cross. It's unlike any other religious artwork I've ever seen. Has anyone found a source for prints of JR Wehle's work or information about the artist?

I also have the painting of Christ and his Disciples in the wheat field. On the border of the painting it says "Gemalt von J R Wehle" and "137a Kunstverlag Trowitzsch & Sohn, Frankfurt, Oder". It belonged to my grandfather in Denmark until he died 1962. Hopefully this contributes to the puzzle of this piece of work.

I saw the J.R. Wehle painting of Jesus in the wheatfield for the first time tonight. It belongs to a man I heard giving a lecture. He found it in an art shop several years ago. I am very interested in a copy of a print--even scanned would be great. Is it printed in a book or encyclopedia?
