Would anyone please be able to look up the name Jemott for me in Tasmania. I have William Jemott who came out as a convict on the Indefatigable in 1812. He was already married to a Mary
Moore before arriving in tasmania (
Hobart). He had a number of children that I am looking for - Catherine, John, Mary, William and possibly more. He died around 1840's I think and is buried in
Richmond. I am trying to find out what happened to his children and wife as it is such an uncommon name that surely records are somewhere.
I know that Catherine Jemott married Thomas
Browne who was in the military. They lived at Oatlands and New Norfolk for a time before he went to Canada and died there. She moved with her brother John and family of children to Queensland. I have no idea what happened to the rest of them.
