I looked through the volumes of The Howards of Eastern Ky. published by the Magoffin Co. Historical Society and Lucy is in there but there are no parents or siblings given for her. It only covers her life after she married Lewis. It does show that she was his 2nd wife. It may help to contact the Historical Society via snail mail.

Omar,
according to "Adams Families of Southeast Kentucy" by Dorothy A. Griffith & Robert E. Parkin, Lucy ADAMS was the
daughter of Stephen ADAMS (1778-1858) & Mary WEBB (1775-1851). Stephen ADAMS was the son of John ADAMS, Jr. (1747-1815) & Nancy CAUDILL (1752-1785). John, Jr. was the son of John ADAMS, Sr. (1727-1804) & Ann (1730-1803). If this book is incorrect, could you, please, give me the details so I can correct the information that I have. Lucy ADAMS is listed as born 16 Feb 1818 Rockhouse, Floyd Co., KY; m: 14 Mar 1837, W. Liberty, Morgan Co., KY to Lewis PATRICK. Lewis was born 1817; died May 1864 Civil War. Noted was: Morgan Co. 1850: 1083; Magoffin Co. 1860. I've seen other sources listing her as Stephen's daughter. If this turns out to be incorrect, perhaps it is this book that was the main source.

Omar,
thanks for the response. This is what is great about the internet - comparing notes. I have an Isaac ADAMS born abt 1824 TN(?). He ended up in Taney Co., MO. He is amid the ADAMS who came out of KY. But I have never been able to determine his parents. I have collected a lot of ADAMS info in my search. For awhile I felt he must fit into the Isaac ADAMS & Rebecca WAGERS line somehow. But they had a son named Isaac Calvin ADAMS who was not my Isaac. The ADAMS family was huge. And it was common to have numerous marriages. If you have any info on any other Magoffin Co., KY ADAMS lines, I'd love to have the details.

Rebecca,

I could be wrong on Lucy Adams' parents. OOPS! I have those names second hand. Your source sounds legitimate. I wouldn't change your info unless a proven record would justify it.

Lucy's Civil War Pension Application given 31 May 1866 states that she was married to Lewis Patrick on 14 Mar 1847 by Wallis Baley, minister of the Baptist Church at the home of Isaac Adams. This was taken out of the Magoffin County Historical Journal for summer 1993 Vol. 15 No. 2. This info from : Diana Dean Igo, 1423 Kinser Pike, Bloomington, IN 47401. Try contacting her for verification.

The Adams Family Book was published in 1979 by The Magoffin Co. Historical Society, Box 222, Salyersville, KY. 41465. This book might have some info on Lucy Adams. The Patrick Family Book was published in 1982. I don't have either book.

I don't recall where I got other references to Isaac Adams. Maybe someone assumed Isaac Adams was her Father because Lucy was married at his house.

Lewis and Lucy's daughter, Nancy Patrick m. Jesse Roark b.1835. Jesse was my maternal g.g. grandfather.

Rebecca, thank you for the new info.

I still haven't been able to find the parents of my Isaac ADAMS born abt 1824 TN. I know he has to fit into one of the ADAMS families of KY. But, so far, I have been unable to place him. But in the meantime, I sure am figuring out EVERYONE else's lines. HA. It appears that all of the early ADAMS who went into KY came from just a few lines that dead end. By dead end, I mean that when the lines dead end, those of that generation are of an age to be siblings or cousins. But I haven't seen anyone connect them yet. As I stated in the earlier message, your Lucy ADAMS' ancestry goes back to John ADAMS (1727-1804) & Ann (1730-1803).
The Isaac ADAMS you've inquired about was born abt 1770 & died 1841. He married Rebecca WAGERS (b:1772; d: 1855). He was the son of Charles ADAMS (1745-1780) & Ann (d:1778).
Charles ADAMS was the son of Charles ADAMS (1711-1771) &
unknown spouse (b:1727).
These ADAMSes are very difficult to research. Thank goodness, others have done much of the work in the past. The the families were very large. They migrated to new areas with each other for generations. They use the same names over & over again through the generations. Lots of Johns, Stephens, Daniels, Jesses, Isaacs, Matthews, Benjamins, Spencers, Charleses, Sylvesters, etc. Many had numerous marriages with children in each marriage. I think that might be where MY Isaac ADAMS might be falling through the cracks. There are divorces in some of the lines. There are some lines where there were mistresses & children by them. There were cousin marriage. ADAMSes marrying ADAMSes & other cousin connections. There are several families they intermarried with for GENERATIONS. Some of these names are CAUDILL, WAGERS, CRAFT, WEBB, FRAZIER, HALL, HAYS, & others.
I don't know how your Lucy ADAMS is related to Isaac ADAMS. But I think that his ancestor Charles ADAMS born 1711 & her ancestor John ADAMS born 1727 must be related someway. The lines stuck together through the generations.
