I have a yahoo club called Polish Border Geneology. The reason for the club is to help each other find info. I of course am researching the Slezak, Slazak name. I find this to be a common name in the border areas, Czech, Polish, Russian, Austrian. I set up the club as a place for us to meet and discuss this info. Others exploring this area are welcome, but I wanted to extend a personal invite to those researching the Slezak, Slazak name. We may have bits of info. that can help each other. I have been able to put a couple pieces of my puzzle together by getting a better understanding of the Ploish border region, maybe the links I have at the club can help some of you.

I have a marriage file from a parish in Poland that contains the surnames Cichon & Slezak. It is an area south of Mielec but north of Debica. In glancing over the info I did not find any Borinskis - this is may not be a Galician name. My great great grandmother's maiden name was Cichon - she married a Kieras.

I read you message on Roots Web and you stated your family settled in Michigan. I have been searching for quite sometime for my ancestors by the name of Slesdet but have found the name to be spelled many many ways. My grandfather said he was born in Germany in 1864 and came to Michigan between 1872 and 1900. I would appreciate any information regarding this surname.

Thank you,
dee.
