I am researching on Thomas Fostey b. in Austria, died in 1919 (probably in Canada) and Mary Bilich born in Ukraine. They married and lived in Calder, Saskatchewan, Canada and had 11 children: Stella, Andrew, Metro, George, Michael, Bill, Peter, Katie, Helen, Jean, Dora. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Virginia,
Peter Fosty was my great uncle. I assume he was the Peter you mentioned in the email. I have been researching the Fosty family for a number of years. A relative of mine, Angie Soonawala , has been sharing information with me as well -as she is trying to document the fosty lineage as well. You can reach her at: A_Soonawala@mts.net . I have forwarded your email to her so that she can be aware of your query. -George

Hi George, Thank you for your prompt response. The Peter I have changed his name from Fostey or Fosty to Fostrey: Peter Thomas Fostrey, b. Apr 22 1913, Calder, Saskatchewan, Canada; m. Jul 25, 1936 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Anne Patterson b. Colerain, No. Ireland; he died Mar 23, 2002 in San Rafael, Marin Co., CA. He was the son of Thomas Fostey of Vienna, Austria and Mary Bilich from the Ukraine. Is he the same Peter as your great uncle Peter? There were 11 children, which are you descended from? Again, thank you. Virginia

PS - I just found out that Stella's real name was Anastasia - Peter's sister.

Hi Virginia,
I am not sure if this is the same Peter -though my Great Uncle did marry a woman named Anne also. Alot of the names you mention are identical to people on our family tree. Let me check out a few things this week and get back to you. -George

Don't know if ANDREW would be related? We were brought up with the understanding that his mother died at birth/ or shortly after birth, and his mother's name was Justyna? And I learned his father's name was John. I am in the process of getting my father's birth certificate and then I should know more.

You may or may not get this message, but in your research of the Fosty family, have you come across Anany Fosty, from Bessarabia (later Ukraine)? I have a bit of info on him, he is my husband's great grandfather. I have two different names for his father: Wasyl Fosty, as per his WWI draft registration card, and Vasiliy Dimitroff as per his marriage certificate. I see the similarities in the first names, but am stumped as to why the last names would be different. His mother is listed as Ksenia Stephanoff on his marriage certificate. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
