In the 1860 census records from Franklin Co IN I found William Pruet 54 KY
Harriet Pruet 31 IN
Marion Emsweller 10
William Emsweller 9
Alexander vaosdol 22 blacksmith
Is this Williams 2nd wife
I found m record also
Harriet Emsweller m Wlliam Pruet 4-6-1859
Do you know more about this line. Her 1st husband went back to Penn and remarried. I was wondering if William Emsweller might have actually been William Pruets child!

William Pruet is my g-g-grandfather. I am descended from him and his first wife, Elizabeth Davison. Elizabeth died May 07, 1856 so I would say that no, William Emsweller is not William Pruet's son. In his will William left equal shares of his estate to his children and step-children. Most of the land, however, ended up with the Emswellers. I have a LOT of information on these names: Croddy, Davison, Emsweller, Pruet.

I wondered where Harriet's first husband, Joseph Emsweller, went after their divorce. Did you know that he went to prison for killing someone? I've copied all the news articles I could find on it. According to one of the articles, William talked his old friend Joe into turning himself in. Interesting reading!

FYI - Alexander Vanosdol was the first husband of Louisa J. Pruet (Brown), a dau. of Wm. and Elizabeth.

I would just LOVE to share any and all information with you!

Hello,'

I am at a loss, my grandfather's name was Tom Emsweller, born 15 August 1920 and seems to be the only one in that town besides his three children and wife. I have a lot of theories but I don't remember him to even know what he looked liked he died when I was young and we only vistied Mississippi for short periods of time. I was wondering if we could be linked somehow , someway. Please help

I'm sorry, but I do not have a Tom Emsweller in my records. I've researched only those in Franklin and Rush Counties, Indiana. I looked Tom up in the Social Security Death Index and this is what is listed:

Tom Emsweller
Born: August 15, 1920
Died: February 1983
Age: 62
Last Residence: Macon, Noxubee, MS 39341
Issued by: Mississippi

Have you tried obtaining a copy of his obituary or his death certificate? The death certificate should provide you with a birth location. You can also obtain a copy of his Social Security application. Good luck!
