Lewis family

if anyone could help me I would be most grateful.I have multiple questions about a married couple of Lewis and I can't find certs on them or track where they are from.
- I have a family bible that states both Harriett Ricketts and John Walter Lewis married in 29/9/1833 in Walkerville Sth Australia, I am unable to find their marriage cert and the church states they hve no record of this. Harrietts death cert states her parents as unknown and was married in Adeliade. John's parents were James lewis and Sarah. Again my family bible states both James and Harriett were from Gloucester, England.
- I am unable to find when they both came to Australia.
- I have the names of 5 children (2 died at birth or soon after) who I can't find birt certs for; Emilie Maria 30/6/1853, James Walter 29/6/1854, John 12/3/1856, William Henry 26/4/1858 died 9/6/1858, William Henry 2/5/1859 died 18/10/1860. All born at Mount Pleasant SA.
- the 1st cert I can track down for this couple is for another William Henry born at Redbank Vic on 18/41861. They then had another 5 kids.

I know this is alot to ask but any help I am grateful for.
There are many lewis listed in the cenus in England, so it seems to be a common name, so I can't track them/him back in England. I may have found John in a cenus in 1841 with his parents and other siblings - Lucy, Caroline,Jane and Isaac but its just a guess.
I am guessing they got the bible in 1881, The front page is beautifully decorated with John Walter Lewis, Avoca, 15/6/1881.

Sorry if I got waffly

Hi,
There are a few LEWIS arriving in SA Caucasian (ship) 25 April 1853 including 2 Thomas's, Sarah, William, Harriet and John.
I cannot see how they are all connected as yet but hopefully someone will check BISA shortly and it might give more clues.

Maryann and Kellie

This passenger list shows a different LEWIS family.

Not in BISA either.

Shall keep looking.

Hi Rhonda,
Thanks (didn't even think to look at ships list)
I didn't think it was them as 2X Thomas listed usually mean one is the father...

One thing I noticed is the OP has they married SA 1833 but states she found John with parents in 1841 census...so I guess the 1833 might be 1853...

yes date was 1853 sorry typo, the heat here must have been getting to me or the dead ends. Thanks Rhonda and Kellie for your help.
Any ideas on the marriage, can I access SA records on the net? I could only find a site that I had to post stuff to and thought that was abit outdated. I was wondering if she was recorded as Rickells. So do you think she came out here with him then got married??? so many questions....

Hi ladies, me again. Sorry I don't think that can be the right shipping record can it as shows john as 4yrs and Harriett as 1yr, also the incorrect father thomas and not James. I have no idea where Johns parents died here or back in England, they are not mentioned in the bible. So I will play with that site and try to find them. Is there a quicker way to search or do i have to go through each record? Maryann

Hi Maryann

I have looked through passenger lists on CD to 1851, and
several John LEWIS and wife by 1851

Also checked State Records SA for assisted immigrants 1845-1886, but nothing at all for Harriett RICKETTS / RICKETS / RICKETT / RICKELL / RICKARD / RICKARDS.
