I am researching my Canty family line and hope to share/exchange information
with anyone that may have a similar connection. My gg grandfather was Richard
Canty and his wife, my gg grandmother was Caroline Singleton-Canty. They lived
in Sumter, SC during the late 1800's. Richard died July 1923 in Sumter. They
had several children whose names were Eugene, Zulene, Caroline (my g-grandmother)
Richard Jr. and Edison. Zulene, Eugene and my gg-grandparents are buried in the
Cane Savannah Cemetary in Sumter. As I learn more, I will post in hope that I
can find descendants of Richard and Caroline.

Thanks in advance,
Andrea

Do you know what part of Sumter your gg-grandfather was from? My Cantys all lived in the Privateer section. Do you know any of Jeremy's siblings, who were his children? You can email me directly.

Surnames: Sumter-Cantey
I read your message and assumed some of past history revolving around the Cantey family...and this is why I write..
Of the history I have in the general area..you are describing
I find a Thomas Sumter born 13 Aug 1734 in Va.. and died at
South Mount Plantation, S. C...
What is interesting...He married a Mary Cantey...and they had
one son...of my knowledge...Thomas Sumter...
Your Cantey line may have come as a brother of Mary Cantey..who would have been born..about the same dates or later...than Thomas b. 1734..... bernieandrose@juno.com
