Re: FTM 2010 trouble installing
cdambrosio,
Are you installing As Administrator? Right clicking on the setup file, and check the Run A Administrator.

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentilals Windows 7 64 bit and running setup.exe from CD as administrator ________________________________ Tried again this morning and install and updates were successful however I have now received a "FTM has stopped working" error during the conversion of 2008 files to 2010 I will reboot and try again later today

Re: FTM 2010 trouble installing
I was finally able to install by copying the files from the disc and installing as administrator from the files locally instead of the disc

Re: FTM 2010 trouble installing
Hi Russ, I am trying to install FTM 2010 on my new computer. I am using Windows 7 home Premium and have Norton 360 security running.
The installation stalls completely at a point - C:\...\Family Tree Maker 2010\Backgrounds\Arch de Triompne.jpg. It will not cancel or close and the only way I can move on is to eject the disc. I then get an Error 1603 message.
I have read through a number of the solutions offered on this board as well as on other sites but, to an amateur like me, they don't make much sense. Several recommend installing as Administrator but I have not been able to find how to do this. Windows 7 seems very different to XP which was my previous operating system.
thanks Annette
