CALDER, GREGORY,

I am tracing my family tree. I am a Calder descendant from William S Calder and Ada M Horsley. I dont have any information on William but Ada is born abt 1874 in Islington, Middlesex, England. They had 4 children , Thomas M Calder born abt 1910, Joseph B calder (my grandfather)born about 1908, Pauline Calder and Molly Calder. The girls names could be their middle names as my dad used to talk about Thomas using his middle name Mervyn, and my Grandfather Joseph used to be known as Bede (his middle name)

I am also tracing my Grandmother Dorothy who was Dorothy Gregory.

Dorothy Gregory was born in 1906 in Narrandera, New South Wales to parents David Joseph Gregory born 1870 and Emily Jane Robinson born 1871 in carwoola, nsw. Emily and David were married in 1894 in Queanbeyan, New South Wales. They had the following children;

catherine Gregory (kity?) 1895
Henry J Gregory born and died 1897
David j Gregory born 1898
george t e Gregory born 1901
mary e Gregory born 1903
dorothy emily gregory born 1906 (my grandmother)
Lucy M Gregory born 1909
norman j Gregory born 1911.

Any information on these people would be appreciated. especially on William S Calder.

Sarah (using my husbands account)

Hi Sarah,
The tree that was linked to in a previous post states that Ada was born in NSW Australia..
This appears to be the birth in question
16676/1874 HORSELEY ADA MATILDA ROBERT MARY ORANGE
although I notice mothers name is registered as Mary..??

Where did your information that Ada was born in England come from?

Kellie

Hi Sarah,
I had a quick look and the tree where you copied the information about Ada being born 1874 England with parents Thomas and Eliza is incorrect.

Ada's death rego states her father was Robert and mother Unknown MADDEN..
This looks like their marriage
2294/1860 HORSELEY ROBERT MADDEN BRIDGET ORANGE

If you google NSW BDM (and use variant spellings) you can find most of the details.
Also search TROVE online newspapers as often notices can be found.

than you so much for all the info. seems i need to do some more research. unfortunatly i dont know much about my fathers side of the family. my grandfather died before my parents married and i only have recolections of being a small girl visiting dads aunty molly in woolongong a few times, and then hearing my nan (dorothy) speak of a sister kitty who lived in perth. Also my father had a falling out with his brother before i was born so I know nothing of him either. i have only been searching my tree a short time but its been an interesting journy.

once again thanks for the help
