My memory of my ancertors is very hazy, but they are
supposed to have their roots from Italy, then to Spain,
after which some settled in the Philippines.

My mother is Maria Bocanegra and she hails from Dumaguete
in Negros Oriental, Phils. Her brother is Ret. Gen. Mamerto Bocanegra. They have half-brothers & sisters, one of whom is
Ricardo Bocanegra who moved to the U.S.

I am very curious in tracing the Bocanegra genealogy.

I am a banker and currently posted in Germany - the fifth
country that I have taken my family (wife & 11-year old son)
with the addition of our 7-month baby boy.

Luis

Do you know how to contact Gen. Mamerto Bocanegra (ret)? He is from Dumaguete, served in the AFP as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, etc... If you need to contact him please let me know.

My question is with your last name "Maglanoc"

My mother's maiden name is Maglanoc. My grandfather's last name is a mystery, since he and his brother were orphans. They are originally from Tarlac, Tarlac....Philippines. I wonder if there is any connection. Thanks

Jessie

Hi ! My mom's name is Manuela Jean Bocanegra from Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. To be honest, we are not really close to our relatives there. I think I only met some of them once , and that was when I was still a little girl. My mom is married to Edgar Pascua who was the manager for Philippine Airlines in Davao City until his retirement few years ago. They have 8 kids ( I am the eldest ) ,4 are in the US ( we are expecting 1 more early next year. I presently live in Illinois.Hope to hear from you.

Nancy

P.S. Yes, my mom used to tell us that her ancestors are from Spain.

Your mother is most likely my first cousin then, as my father Melchor Maglanoc, had only 1 brother, and they were orphans in Tarlac.

You must be living in the U.S. now, right?

Sorry for replying several years so late...

Yes I know how to contact him as my Mom and him are the only direct siblings, and they meet regularly.

It's been several years since we visited the Phils, but my Mom visited us in Germany last year.

Sorry for replying several years late...

Hello pinsan...It's me Carmita (Mita Bocanegra) from NY...I see Nini (your sister) every now and then...thanks for taking the time to check our Bocanegra genealogy. Any luck? God willing, when I get the chance to visit Italy, I would like to check the Bocanegra roots (although I think the spelling of our last name may have been changed in Spain)---probably was Boccanegra..my husband has family in Italy and I will ask her to check it out..

Hi, this Cheryl Bocanegra Amor from Davao City Philippines. I read the thread and I recognize the family of Nancy Bocanegra Pascua. I went to school with your siblings at the Assumption Schoolof Davao. Infact, your sister Diane was a batchmate and had been a classmate of mine. We knew we were somehow related but did not dwell on it.
My mother is Zenaida Taboada Bocanegra who was born in Toledo City in Cebu Province. Her father was Fabian Bocanegra, whose roots we could not trace but all we know was he was from Negros. He ran away as a young man and went to Toledo. He remarried twice.
My aunt Evelinda and the late aunt Norma, older sisters of my mon, somehow met some of my lolo's relatives in Negros.
I have been wanting to trace the roots of my grandfather.
I heard the Aboitiz's are his relatives. When i was still young, when my lolo was still alive, Al Aboitiz, the founder of Davao light & Power company came to look for my grandfather but my grandfather denied his identity. He died not telling us his life story.
I have been wanting to know my other relatives in Negros.
