Thanks to someone's great post to the "World Connect" I have found an ancestor Thomas Speller (1813-1870). He was probably born in North Carolina but died in Dale Co., Alabama. His wife is Mary Ann Hill (1813-1887) and their son from whom I am descended is Nathaniel (b. 1852)

Does this connect to anyone's tree?

Hello. I have a Thomas Speller on the Speller Line that I have been researching. I do not htink it is the Speller your looking for but I would be happy to send you an electronic copy of the Speller Line as I have it. The Line that I am related to originates in Windsor, NC. The Thomas Speller that I am related to had a son named Robert Speller who married Effie Bond. Together they had 6 children. One of which being my Great-Great-Grandfather, Plummer S Speller Sr, who was born May 26, 1886.

He is linked to the Spellers. Henry Speller appears to start the Spellers in eastern North Carolina. I have found a Henry Speller married to a Patience Parrish in Chowan County (Edenton). This Henry Speller's children then intermarried through all of the old families in South Virginia and North Carolina. Their children then migrated all over what is now the Southern states. Some of Henry's first issue appear to be mulatto and left North Carolina in about 1690 or there about. They evently ended up in Idaho and other northwestern states as white.

When I get a chance, I will send you some webpages of others who find themselves connected to the Bertie County Spellers. If the Spellers connect themselves to Spellers in the early 1700s, the are all mostly likely biological relatives.

The Thomas Speller that she has listed is the greatgrandfather of the Thomas Speller that you are directly related through Effie Bond.

I am correcting some information. I should have spelled Patience Parrish as Patience Parris.
