I have two Royal naval service records for two fellow I'm quite certain are my ancestor and his brother. Both signed up in Devon.
Only trouble is, the birth dates recorded on the naval service records are 'wrong' for both of them. In both cases the birth dates on the naval service records are later than the actual dates, and I cannot think why they would be lying about their ages to make themselves YOUNGER than the really were.
Can anyone shed light on this? I see a couple of other posts of this board asking similar questions.
