Hi all could use some help my great grandfather (who ive only just discovered) served in the Royal Navy as a Stoker between 1911 and 1956 from what i can tell. I have his Military Serial number from Ancestry but i couldn't find a record of him or his serial number on the National Archives website.

Im assuming somewhere he'd have had a service record?

Obviously id love to know more about him but i currently don't even know who his parents are the one census record i found for him he was away at Sea and the place he is listed as being born in seemingly cant be found on a current map. I'm aware a birth certificate would help but there is only one "possble" birth match and im not up to ordering that one just yet

Many thanks to anyone who can help re the Navy Records x
