I am investigating a relative, who according to his Naval service record, was stationed on the Cruizer between 13 June 1860 to 1 May 1861 yet I can find no record of HMS Cruizer in the 1861 census. What explanations are there for the absense of the vessel from the 1861 census? Is it possible this was a non-Royal Naval vessel?
