I was also wondering who was adding the additional names & had thought it was subscribers adding them as 'Comments' rather than making a correction.
A few years ago I was doing research with several gals. One of them, a gal who had been a volunteer for the LDS, stated there had been some kind of falling out between the LDS & Ancestry because of something to do with census records. I don't remember the details so can't elaborate.
The LDS has a pilot site...they are still looking for volunteers to transcribe records including census records which will remain FREE from their site.
To me that suggests there is no relationship between the two.
Many Ancestry subscribers, including myself, subscribe to have access to the census records.
Why pay for something I will eventually be able to get free elsewhere?
I get really frustrated when I add a census record to members of the same family & then find Ancestry has made a child of the head of household a SPOUSE instead...no idea why this happens but it's been happening more often lately it seems. Weird.
