Hi Joe,
I live in Austin and saw your post. I found the FamilySearch pilot project site to be so helpful--in extending our records by several generations! http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#
I entered "August Fuhrmann" in the search and found what looks like August and Amelie/Emile's (not sure of spelling) children. There are also free 1900 census records on that site, which include this Furhmann family, if you don't have a paid subscription here, as well as some records from Germany.
I found an August W. Fuhrmann who died on 3/12/1937. His father was August E. Fuhrmann, mother Emilie, spouse Edith Beatz. Several death certificates show Fuhrmans buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, so I googled the cemetery name and found this link: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/ahc/oakwood.htm.
If you do a search on the last name only at this site, you'll find "Aug. Furhmann" died 5/4/1906 at age 60. I don't know why we can't find the death certificate for him...may be due to spelling?
Anyway, good luck with your hunting! Maybe you can visit the cemetery sometime soon.
