Help with verifying/identifying arms
Greetings,
I hope that someone can help with verifying or identifying the arms of an ancestor of mine. His name was Gabriel D'Vebre I (1731-1810). He had a distinguished military history during the Revolution, serving in several Loyalist regiments and ending up as Lieutenant-Colonel of the Prince of Wales regiment.
There is a silver mug in the St. John, New Brunswick, Canada museum by the famous Huguenot silversmith Samuel Courtauld of London in 1750, which features a combination of the deVeber coat of arms (left side) and an unknown family crest on the right featuring a chevron and 3 trefoils.
The mug may have been a wedding present for Gabriel and his wife, which is believed to be Mary Burke. Can anyone identify these arms and verify those of Gabriel DeVeber? If you have any insight, please respond to my post.
Thanks in advance,
Clark Wrather
